Resident Evil 1 and Code Veronica fan remakes expected later this year
Capcom has been busy remaking its old Resident Evil games lately, with a remake for 2 releasing in 2019 and 3 releasing in 2020. Both of these games were originally tank control games that were updated to the over-the-shoulder style introduced in Resident Evil 4, which led many fans to hope the often forgotten Code Veronica would also be receiving a remake to the new control style, and possibly even a second remake of the original Resident Evil, which still only exists as a tank control game, though some leaks from a Resident Evil 4 voice actor might indicate that Capcom will be remaking that game next.
However, fans hoping for a modernization of Code Veronica and the original game can still look forward to two new fan remakes that are in development and will convert those games to the new over-the-shoulder gameplay, both expected to release in 2022. The webpage for the Code Veronica remake also mentions that it will be released in three chapters, though it's unclear whether all three chapters will release simultaneously, or if not, whether all three chapters will be released in 2022. That page also says it will feature the dodge mechanic from the Resident Evil 3 remake, and will have an additional release in the form of a "lite" version designed to run on lower-spec PCs. While the page for the Resident Evil remake doesn't include these details, since they are being made by the same teams in parallel, there's a good chance they will both have those features.
