Give the game more time to sell. March had a 17% drop in sales from last year. I think this game will have legs. I don't think it'll sell as well as GTA 4 (Why the fuck is Kotaku comparing CW to GTA 4?), but it well sell decently with more time.

Let's base the sales on a 3 week period, that's a smart idea.

Gee, maybe because it's rated M and you need an adult to buy it for you?

That's a tough one to figure out.

I bought the game, my 1st DS game this year and probably one of my favorite DS games so far. I wouldn't imagine having parents buying GTA:CW for kids is a problem, I see parents buying M-rated games for grade schoolers pretty frequently. Their choice I guess.

this game doesnt appeal to the general population imo. most people see it as a step back from the 3d games.

Most people who have played a 2D GTA wouldn't agree with this, and I think the majority of GTA games have played those 2D games.

As many previous posts, this needs time, many people thought and some still think that it its a bad game, but to be honest it aint that bad at all.

I'd have to beg to differ, I reckon most GTA players would give you a pretty weird look if you told them GTA used to be 2D. Between this being 2D and the major DS population being children, it's no wonder this isn't selling.

I think we should wait for the DSi sales to increase a bit, then the game may sell more

There's absolutely zero proof of that. There's actually a megaton more proof that games can sell extremely well regardless of pirate activity. This just ain't one of those games. They should have put a "z" at the end of the title, then they would likely have sold more copies.

The bottom line is, Walmart doesn't give a shit about GTA on DS, regardless of how well Rockstar is established in the business world. Walmart (and they are the ones that truly count -- not EB or Gamestop) can't sell tons of GTA to their customers in a short period of time. If this were a GTA for either PS3 or 360, it would be a completely different story. But moms who buy games for their kids head to one of two spots in the gaming area of WallyWorld: the Wii section or the DS section.

I blame the people who bought a million copies of various members of the Imagine series. "Imagine:Babiez" sold over a million units. Hannah Montana games sell like crazy. If only parents would buy kids quality games instead of games that have a familiar concept or celebrity face on it, the DS might be taken more seriously by developers.

Still, I hope GTA:CW sells a lot more down the line, and will prove that mature games really do have legs on this platform.

    Meh.
I wasn't all that impressed with this game.
Seems the general public shares my opinion for once.

No sane parent would buy GTA for their kid.

I didn't like the game much. Mind you, the ENTIRE series just isn't my kind of game. I don't think they are bad, they ARE good. They just don't really click with my tastes. I'm glad I DIDNT buy it since I would have been disappointed. But in reality, used game sales are FAR more detrimental to game companies than piracy. A very small percentage of gamers pirate, but almost every gamer in the world has bought at least a few used games. It's just as bad as piracy, except thousands of times more popular to do AND legal to boot meaning almost everyone would do it (and without feeling guilty).

For the record, I used to go to the pawn shop and buy Genesis games there. It was always a real laugh to see a dozen copies of the Genesis pack-in cartridge of Sonic the Hedgehog sitting for $5 with big words "NOT FOR RESALE" on the label. [IMG]
