    Hello everyone,

I've watched a few videos on disassembling a ds, but none of them show how to take the layer of clear plastic off the top lid.

I was wondering if this is possible?

What are the benefits/results of doing this?

I assume he wants to pain the inside of the ds, letting the colour show to the outside. It would remove any worry about the paint rubbing off.

In short..no, it's not possible..The clear layer is actually the same part as the color..

I was going to cut a design into the clear plastic layer, and then place it back on the ds, then cut the same design out of a sheet of metal and place in into the hole that i cut from the clear plastic.

Edit: ah, Toni Plutonij, its the same piece as the opaque layer under it? that sucks.

IF you're doing this to the outside, then you can just do it, but if you want to have the metal on the inside, the only way i can think of is to cut through the coloured layer. I wouldn't want to try it myself though.

Actually, yes..It's the same thing, that inner and outer part of case..But, even if it wasn't, that with metal would be bad idea, because it would probably short circuit the motherbord of NDS..You would have to isolate it somehow!
