    Hello guys,

Most tutorials I see deal with going from CFW to CFW, or 3.55 OFW to CFW.

I'd just like to remove the jailbreak (currently 4.x Rogero's) and return to 3.55 then update to latest OFW and say goodbye to the scene.
But how do I do that without
    1. Bricking the PS3
    2. Losing savegames
    3. Losing trophies

I can sync (2) and (3) with PSN Plus so once I do that I can even restore the machine if such option available (can't remember) in order to completely get rid of the jailbreak (also is there such thing as completely removing traces?).

    Thanks for your attention

Did you at any point downgrade your console? If so did you dehash?

If yes to both question (or no to the first question) you can just install 4.55 OFW directly. Just make sure to remove any homebrew before doing so.

Else you need to downgrade to 3.55 CFW. Run Toggle QA to dehash, then install 4.55 OFW.

There is NO such thing as completely removal of hacks. Once a system is hacked it is always hacked.

Thanks a lot for the help!

Well when I bought it it was 3.55 at the time and dehash yes I think I've done that, I even bricked the PS3 sometime when upgrading CFW and had to buy a dongle to unbrick it then I toggle'd QA or whatever that time.
However if downgrade means downgrade at all, then yes, a couple times (when the dongle issue and when updating to 4.1 or something I had to go all the way from 4.x to 3.55 then 4.x again in order to install a new CFW revision).

In any case I guess if I getcha correctly:
    1. Remove all games
    2. Remove all home-brew (well in my case only a couple apps)
    3. Download OFW from internet.
    4. Update from USB.
    5. Pray and keep on truckin'.

What you mean with the motto is that the CFW forever wrote to the ROM or something (not HD) flag and stuff that allowed the jailbreak hence those will be always there?
Is there any risk of getting banned when on a latest OFW after being jailbroken in the past? (More than a "well, we'll never know" this is more of a, have there been any reported cases you recall?

There has to be a way to completely "virginize" the system. Sure, the hack leaves traces, but I don't see a reason why those traces wouldn't be removable.

It is like Wii, you can try your best to purge cIOS and any other homebrew, but you will end up leaving some traces. For example using ATD leaves IOS0 behind.
Each time a PS3 is connected online it uploads bunch of data to Sony, mostly checksums for various system files. It is widely speculated that this is how Sony distinguish between stock and hacked PS3.

There are people getting banned even after using OFW with E3 flasher dual booting (allows you to select to boot into OFW or CFW during each startup).

Even if so, you can still nuke the system with a clean OFW image and transfer the profile files somehow. On the Wii, you could use AnyTitleDeleter to remove anything you wanted, so technically you could fully virginize it. I also find it... questionable that people using E3 dual booting would get banned, I've never heard of such stories. I imagine it would be rather difficult to look through the entire console for traces and probably nobody really does that so there's no dedicated application to do it, but still, I don't think it's completely impossible.

    Thanks guys.

But if I say, take the HD out, format it on Windows, then put it back it, won't it be as virgin as new?

Also then what should I do, update to 4.55 OFW straight up or go back to 3.55 first?

Unless it's a launch BC unit, you have almost no reason to un hack it.

What I mean is that a hacked PS3 is slightly more expensive than a non hacked one.

If you put up a posting on Craigslist or something saying something like "Want to trade hacked PS3 for new non hacked PS3." you should get a response in about 30 maybe 40 seconds.

If it is a BC unit and you wan't to keep PS2 compatibility than yeah unhacking it would be something you may want to do... Not sure if I would do it at this late time in the PS3's life cycle. Your doing it for PSN access and Sony will pull that rug out from under you at some point in the future since they want you to buy a PS4.

The saves can be exported via the save manager and even made to work on any PS3 using Aldos Tools, I am not sure about Trophies lol pretty sure those won't carry over no matter what you do.... I think Sony fixed the whole "I have 8 billion trophies imported from my hacked shit!!!" thing. I could be wrong of course but I think I remember reading about them making Trophies server side or something.

    Thanks.

Well you are right on many things, but there is no Craiglist on Colombia, just the cheesy "Mercadolibre" which is owned by eBay but nothing like it and a lot of kiddos and scared rednecks wanting to come home (no thanks) to check if the PS3 is working and stuff. In short colombian people are afraid of the internet still and reputation systems mean nothing to those buyers.

I already have a PS4 hence why I just want to get rid of the jailbreak, I already bought over 20 PS3 games in preparation last month, some of them I already have some save games for. The trophies, well I can live without it, and claim them again anyway.
You are right about the save games and I just exported a few I cared about to the USB, now I'm just deleting the stuff via MultiMAN and waiting for somebody to help me out reverse to OFW...

    EDIT:
Ok got it, reversed to CFW Rogero 3.55 via the downgraded PUP, then OFW 3.55, then 4.55 OFW, then restore, then format, then take the HD out and format via Windows, then reinstall 4.55 OFW via the menu when new HD is detected, then re-reinstall 4.55.
Logged in to PSN, playing CoD right now, everything fine so far :)
