Today I somehow found a CECHA01 PS3 for 15 dollars but it's clearly not well, I do get video when starting it up but it quickly shuts off with plenty of beeping. I do plan on replacing the thermal paste and such but in the event that does not work, does anyone know a reliable PS3 repair person/company? I'd really like to get this machine sorted out, it's well worth it.

It could be a PSU problem. . . . . if you get a spare part you could test whether it solves the problem or not.

But if you can not solve the problem yourself it would probably be cheaper to buy a new ps3.

Nice find cecha01's are hard to come by, expecially good ones. I have 2 with the problem you are mentioning sitting in my closet. Both of them need reballed.

Really? I figured if I needed reballing I wouldn't get video at all.

I replaced the thermal paste today but it made no difference...as seen here, I do get video, but a couple seconds after this it shuts down.
