@Nevermore It's not the Japanese jingles that are boosted in volume, it's the localised ones that are teeny and muffled in comparison. For whatever reason, those were made quieter by re-encoding them that way instead of preserving the quality and setting the volume in the audio masterfile.

Yup yup. I just learned this after extracting the JP and US ones and hearing the differences. But damn, are they loud lmao. Made me jump after the first battle. Basically made my own RomFS, replacing all the BG files.

Y'know what sticks out to me? BG_041.dspadpcm.bcstm in the JP one. It's a quieter version of BG_036.pcm16.bcstm. US rom doesn't have a BG_041 at all, but it's just funny to me. I wonder if the actual JP game uses both tracks at different points, or if it was a mistake of theirs.

have you tried zip..er..? (all united). I have seen the undub edition, it comes also with the 3ED

So I'm trying do to this on my english cart. Everything minus the Japanese voices. I just want to make sure I'm doing it correctly. Could someone tell me how the folders should look. So I'm using the restoration and orchestra patches.

I've been comparing the different OSTs and found the Japanese PS2 midi is completely different from the arrangements in the US 3DS, and it's far better than the midi we got imo. After spending so many years with the orchestrated music, I'd love a chance to play the game with English text and the Japanese PS2 OST, and it seems like doing another OST swap on 3DS would be way easier than a full text translation patch for PS2. Wanted to ask how feasible that would be, how difficult it would be, and what steps one would take if they wanted to create such a mod? Would anyone with technical knowledge and skills required be willing to try it?

Is there an alternative to doing all this and installing the game on 3DS all over again? Like a version that works with the Luma menu game patching. It would be more convenient if that was possible.

I'm really just interested in restoring any altered content and the orchestral music, I don't care about the dub if that would be the thing that would cause an issue, the only thing is that the only patch I've been able to find through online searches is this one on archive.org and I'm not sure I have enough usable free RAM to do it based on what the archive.org page for it says.
