Hacking RELEASE: v4.2 Safe Firmware Updater

ok, so I used your amazing tool, and it installed 4.2E.
It prompted me to install HBC, BootMii and DVDx.
When I installed the HBC, it said it was version 1.3 and a newer version 1.6 is out and installed it.
Is that what it should be doing?

I used to have Geexbox on before so I could watch avi files using the SD card.
Sorry for being a complete noob, but how can I get it back on again?
If I delete all the files on the SD card, what is the minimum files / folders I need?

Also, by installing DVDx, does that mean I can play DVD's through the Wii now? How would I do this?

is it possible to play games from other regions on my wii after i apply this update u instructed? what about games that requires ver 4.2? (other regions or not)

No problem installning the new HBC.
About DVDx, check wiibrew http://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/DVDX
It allows your homebrew applications to read burned DVD's without a modchip.

I would recommend you trying MplayerCE for playing media

To install just copy the "mplayer_ce" folder into the "/apps" directory on your sd card and launch it via the Homebrew Channel.

I think Gecko OS will allow you to run games from other regions. Use the forum and search for more information.

I have done it twice.... it installs many ios and shop channel but when i check my system it says its on 4.1E

hi 0ld8oy how are you.

yes i have access to Preloader i have changed wii ios from 70 to 249 & i can now access the wii menu & hbc but i cant use the preloader hacks,it says something like system file v482 is not found while its actually on the root of the sd card.

if i knew updating to 4.2e is going to be a nightmare i wouldn't have done it yet.

Your preloder should install under IOS70 not 36 for 4.2. Hopefully you have a way to get in and reinstall SM 4.2E. Without preloader the only way in is botmii.

In order to use preloader properly with 4.2 (running on on IOS70) you need to install a patched IOS70. Use freethebug and apply all the patches to the IOS70 wad you get from NUSD. Install it with wadmanager. Then try switching systemmenu back to IOS70 in preloader.

are you positive you've update to 4.2E and not 4.2U? Have you ever changed the region of your wii in the past?

use preloder to start HBC and wadmanager to reinstall your SM-4.2E.wad and that should fix it. Then do what borissaid in his post to the IOS70 and you should be able to install preloader to IOS70.

Don't know what to tell you Satel, I used the app in this thread to update mine. Then I used mod of the Dop-IOS mod to patch my IOS70 and then installed preloader.
