If anyone has the SMT4 US DLCs or simply US 3DS and is able to get all the DLC, I'd be eternally grateful for them.
With SD Decrypter we could finally share DLCs.

well there isn't a public way to share eshop stuff yet, and sharing them here is a no no...
    - i don't know what it is, with 'sd decrypter' we can share eshop stuff?? is it something from an sdk, or a tool made by someone?

A tool made by the guy who made NCCH Decryptor.
You can decrypt your SD card contents (like stuff bought from eShop) and share it with others.
And while sharing them in public here is a no, private messages exist for a reason.

It lets you decrypt data downloaded from the eShop. You can find it here. Yes, you can share the data dumped with it.

So, did you do it yet?
I can't seem to find the Japanese rom so no luck for me.

Is there any way to transfer my DLC from my XL to my Gateway 3DS? I could decrypt it if so, otherwise can't do it.

Edit: Looks like I can do a System Transfer. I'll give that a shot I guess. Just gotta hope Nintendo doesn't push some weird update that prevents my stuff from moving back within the next 7 days.

I did. Had to drive to said friend and get the cartridge dumped, but it did get done and decrypted.

All I can say is good luck!

Every single voice file is named differently. Actually a lot of the files in the Japanese release is different from the US version of the game. That means you'll need to go through the files, listen to the english one, find the japanese equivalent and replace them one by one.

Unfortunately I don't have any Japanese knowledge, so you'll need to find someone who is willing to go through 13800 voice files and who is fluent in Japanese. Luckily most of the Japanese voice files are named accordingly so it's sometimes easy to see on the file name what the voice file says, however the English ones are amazingly enough named "[Name]_108" for example. So you need to go through every single English voice file no matter what.

So that's all I can do, sorry! Here's the file tree again for the JP release.

I'm sure there's some way to automate the progress somehow... Maybe I'll look at it later, though I'm not exactly all that knowledgeable on reverse engineering type stuff so can't promise too much.

The patch file is more than the size of the game? Is this normal because it's undecrypted.

Would it be faster to disassemble the JP game and switch the audio files, or this method?

There's three ways I could think of that could "automate" this process.

    1. Somehow find the code or some form of file that describes what voice is played where. (This is extremely unlikely).
    2. Be extremely lucky if the code for the japanese voices are still intact and adding them will somehow trigger them (also extremely unlikely).
    3. The text files (or I assume that's the text files in /text) could be replaced in the Japanese ROM. However this is also extremely unlikely.

So replacing them one by one is probably the only way to fix it. Coding a "undubbing toolkit" to help the process isn't very hard, but I'd say this would require a team effort of several people listening through the English voices, documenting what they say (it's impossible to tell at this point. They're just names with numbers), and a team of Japanese speakers who could point to each Japanese voice file that corresponds to what the English team has documented and make an automated script that replaces the files accordingly.

There's about 50 more voice files in the Japanese release than the English release. 6873 voice files in the English one and 6926 in the Japanese one.

Now I've never undubbed anything before, but by looking at it I'd say this one is quite hard to do. If anyone who has done such undubbing projects before could confirm my suspicion, it would be great.

You can just replace text in japanese rom.
Pic related is japanese rom with injected english text. Works fine.

Would you look at that, not bad. Nice job!

I assume that's the files in /text and in /script? Replacing rf3.mc with the English one in the Japanese ROM and adding all the .eng files?

    Yeah. /text /textAndData /script
Also, replacing all .jap files in /text and /textAndData translates some menus and all weapons/etc characteristics to english.
But after replacing this files game crashes in prologue. God only knows why.

Well then, seems like the undub is happening then. Good job on researching that.

It might not be perfect with the character names and all being in Japanese, but at least it seems to work quite well. Looks to be the best solution overall.

Will maybe replacing the "menu" and "chr" folder maybe fix some of the Japanese text that are made into textures? They have identical files and are clearly different since the md5 is different for the files. I'll try out some different things later on and see what works and what doesn't. Unfortunately I need to go to a meeting right now, so I can't tinker with this at the moment, but I have time tomorrow to start tinkering with it and see what might work out well.

Thanks for telling us about the text replacement mod!

I see, well at least it is a step in the right direction.

Yeah it's because it's undecrypted so the patch is huge, but it's still faster than downloading both roms and doing it manually yourself

Nice. I haven't played the game yet, is the dub that bad?
If you could add subtitles to the movies (assuming that isn't already built in) then this would be perfect.

Nah, this game actually got a pretty decent dub, as far as those things go. Though I still prefer playing with Japanese voices now that I have the option available.
