Seeing as we can repack roms as we see fit now, there is literally nothing standing in the way of undubs, translation and general romhacking now.
And obviously I was planning on doing PQ as well. I really dislike Atlus' dubs for the most part hence why I decided to do this.
My friend Gracek was actually the one who made the Persona 3 Portable undub for PSP.

Just found it funny because somebody mentioned releasing a SMTIV Undub in there, and here it is. Nice job by the way, hope this paves the way for many other Undubs and hopefully translations.

But the movie still in spanish (Professor Layton Azran Spanish version) like you said before?(should 3DS movie format be reverse engineered in the future)
You need to create a topic teaching step by step and share with us.
I tested your patch and worked on my Shin Megami Tensei IV USA!

Well that's certainly good to hear. While I don't particularly have anything against Atlus dubs, it is nice to see people getting nitty and gritty with 3DS roms and rom hacking. I've been waiting a while to hear good things from the hacking community (though I haven't been as up to date as I was when I was an avid member of the temp); glad to see people are interested.

Now if only someone could get on undub projects for Inazuma Eleven 3 and GO, but I dream.

just went online for the dlc and such without needing to insert a header using the gateway rom patcher..I thought that was always needed to get online unless something has changed since GW 2.6

    Thanks again for the undub!

That's great news for the 3DS scene! This means ROM hacks are getting there and that translation should be possible soon right?

You wanted to see where I live? You stalker...
Teach me, oh great one. I would like some step-by-step directions on how to decrypt and repackage roms for undubbing. (I want to undub Tales of the Abyss 3DS and a couple of other games.)

I just now looked at Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millenium Girl for undubbing, and unfortunately it's impossible right now. The voices (and pretty much all the game files in general) are compressed inside an unknown ".HPB" format that no one has decompressed before and seems to be exclusive for this game (I haven't seen it in any of Atlus' other games). Progress on decompressing the format seems to happen here: http://jul.rustedlogic.net/thread.php?id=17312&page=0 though I'm not sure it will be possible to repack them easily.

Luckily Persona Q is entirely in a simple cpk file which is easy to decompress and replace. Etrian Odyssey Untold however seems like a totally different beast to tackle thanks to that proprietary undocumented HPB format.

The filetree of the ROMFS is included (it's simply text that describes the file hierarchy) if anyone is interested.

Can anyone looking into Rune Factory 4 and see if it can be undub.
To play RF4 undub was always my dream since the day it released.

Decrypted and looked at it. Looks doable without a doubt as all the voice files are there in the open and are in bcsar or other simple file formats that are easy to replace with the Japanese ones. I assume the voices are in /stream as they have character names in front of them and are many.

The only way this can fail is if the English and Japanese voices have different filenames. Usually they have the same filenames which makes it easy to just replace with the Japanese voices and call it a day, however if it is the worst case scenario where the voice files have different filenames in the English and Japanese releases it's going to be quite hard. It would require listening through every single voice clip in both versions of the game and replace them accordingly.

Most likely that isn't the case, so if it's simply replace and done it's going to be quite easy.

As with SMT:IV though, this game seems to have movies in moflex format which I don't think anyone knows how to convert into a normal video format and vice versa. If the game has dubbing in these videos it would require converting them to a normal file format, hardsubbing them and converting them back to moflex and add them into the ROMFS again. So either expect fully Japanese voiced movies without subs, or english voices during movie cutscenes.

I can do it tomorrow, unless someone already does it before I do. Looks like an interesting project to do. However I have no idea how to create a simple patch like Canzah did, I might need to look into that first.

Here is the Rune Factory 4 tree. Again, it's only the file hierarchy, but maybe you find something interesting.

Is this from Japanese rom? Because the character's name here write in English but it not the name used in official translation, it more like the original name of them in Japanese version. (I seen they translate them when the Japanese version was release, wasn't know if it official or not.)
If so then maybe the file in English rom will be different.

That's the English release. A friend of mine actually has the RF4 Japanese cartridge so it shouldn't be too hard to get my hands on the other half and decrypt that as well. Once that's decrypted, we'll see.
