suggestions/request
  • add version info to the program itself, so we know if we need to upgrade or not
  • possible auto update or notification of newer version
  • dark theme
  • support for sorting cheats into menu's and spoilers (i know you mentioned about manually doing it, but if the program can keep you from making mistakes why not)
  • unsure if there's support for cheat comments or info if not that would be great (also ties in with the one above)
thanks for the suggestions, i was planning on adding the spoilers and notes eventually after all of the core features are finished (all that's left to do is add support for E codetypes). I'll add version info into the program as well

There's many methods of finding codes, all of which are only appropriate for a certain type of code. Logic is the only universal method of finding codes. Like "My speed is greater than it was when I last searched for an unknown value, so I should search greater than." If you analyze how specific codes are made it should help you learn yourself and you can apply those techniques to other codes.

Use YouTube, there's probably some tutorials on there. Making video game codes isn't programming, but it helps you achieve the logic required to start programming, so if you want to start that, you should take classes or buy books/DVDs.

After reading the article, I realized that I misspoke.:unsure:
I do not want to create a gateway code but find an address.
Example: The address that corresponds to the player's money.

Again, there's many different methods that are used for different things. For finding addresses, you need to think: How is this value stored in memory?

In this case, it's most likely stored as an unsigned 16/32 bit value that contains the amount of money in whatever unit the game counts it in. For example, in Zelda, if you have 5 rupees, you would search for 5 in the Gateway code searcher. There will be many results, so you can refine them by gaining or losing money and searching for the new amount. If you have 10 rupees now, search for 10 (or 0xA in hex) and the results will lessen. You can continue this until you have only a couple addresses, and then those are the addresses for money. You can set them to any value to change the amount.

-Improved support for E codetypes - almost all codes will work now
-Updated code checker to accommodate for these new changes

So pretty much +{spoiler name} creates a new spoiler, and - will close the latest spoiler. Make sure to close all opened spoilers or there may be issues during compilation.
