    Wowza, that's a lot of letters. Still, I'd be willing to help to even just playtest the game itself on English! I'm not too sure about translating the ENTIRE thing by myself, mainly because my classes and I have around 5 or 4 homeworks pending, but like I said, I'm always willing to help!

    BTW, How many hours of gameplay does this game have? Just for curiosity, I have the ROM lying around my PC somewhere, only touched it for 14 minutes because I didn't really understand anything lol, I'll be asking for the tool when I finish all my pending homework

    Yeah! Second to Soul Eater: Monotone Princess, it's the biggest game the Anime Game Translation Team has ever taken on! As for gameplay time, it's hard to say. I've seen a few full playthroughs go from about 4-8 hours, depending on how much travelling you do. It is possible to cut down on time by skipping some things, but if you want to see everything in the game that means replaying it a few times, so we do ask for a fair time commitment from our playtesters as well!

    Fortunately, we've been very lucky to have a great response from volunteers and so have been making good progress with proofreading, with most of the main storyline done! Right now, it's mostly just the hard to find scenes which haven't been double checked yet so it's a bit of a pain, but :rofl2: If you'd like to get involved with that, please join us down at the AGT Discord server and give us a wave so we can add you to the dedicated S&W channel where you can meet the rest of the team. You'll need to set up a Github account for that anyway, so it might be good practise :)

    Following on from 3 previous patch projects, a fully playable English fan-translation of My Year with Holo has been released!

    Taking on a game this large was no mean feat, but we couldn't be more thrilled to be able to bring you this culmination of several groups' hard work, and we hope you'll enjoy it just as much as we did!

    We are also now looking to recruit translators for the second game, The Wind that Spans the Sea! It's not a direct sequel so having played My Year with Holo is not a requirement, and we'd be very grateful for any time you could spare.

    We do take all requests into consideration, but are unable to promise anything. We’re limited in what projects we can take on by the number of available volunteers to work on them, and unfortunately with sequels, it's harder to find translators with knowledge of the series. (I personally have not played the first Draglade, however I do know for a fact that there's work that remains from a previous patch project which could certainly be used to kick-start a new one.)

    If someone were to approach us with work they've done based on that information looking for help to start a new translation project, we'd do our very best to accommodate them!

    THANK YOU for making this translation, this is an amazing game, and I couldn't play it with the Japanese text, so I'm really grateful for it.

    I feel bad for telling this, but it seems like I found a bug in the patch.
    There's a part when Holo want's to buy some rare item, and these 2 texts keep repeating until eventually the whole thing stops.

    The same thing happens with DeSmuME on PC and DraStic on Android, and I verified that it doesn't happen with the original unpatched ROM. (loaded the same savegame, and the Japanese ROM progressed without issues)

    Is there any chance for someone to look into this?
    If it's hard to fix, I'd be perfectly happy with a workaround, so if you have any suggestion, please do share it!
    I could progress with the Japanese ROM and load back the save to the translated version, but the dialogue there is quite long, and I'd prefer not to miss out on that, so if that's the only workaround, could you please post the related parts of the dialogue?

    Heh heh heh... I have always seen this game in the "Unfinished Translation Projects That Could Be Revived!" topic, and I knew it would have seen the light one day. What makes it better is that one of the guys who worked on this translation is Italian like me :D.

    I would really help on translating its sequel, but I can merely edit texts after they have been changed from Japanese hiragana/katagana to English lettering. This was all I could do when working on my Monster Tale translation.

    Plus, my English is kind of forgettable.

    @Borda No, thank you for the detailed bug report! That scene is an important one in order to level up your intimacy with Holo, so knowing exactly where the issue lies is a big help. It's just unfortunate that this didn't get picked up before the patch release, but, well, it happens :')

    @SDA Hehe, yeah, we're very fortunate to have had Illidan on this project as lead and talented hacker down at the Anime Game Translation Team :lol: For this project we also had one of our largest groups to date and everyone with their own strengths and weakness, but let me promise you, there is no 'merely' about any role! We appreciate each and every contribution that people are able to make, and would love to have you on board!

    Normally with proofreading, we are looking for people who feel confident in their English abilities to fix not just typos, but also things that sound unnatural or hard to understand, but there are also tasks which involve things like checking that text isn't too long and doesn't cause any bugs. Having just launched the project, it's fair to say that we are currently a long way away from being ready for this unfortunately, but if you might be interested in that, do please keep an eye on this thread for future announcements!

    Congratulations!! Just curious, does the game contain any non-romance happy endings? Ie. if I don't want to romance Holo, can she (and the MC) still get a happy end? I figure that with multiple endings there should be one like that (or more), right?

    Well, building your relationship with Holo is one of the core mechanics of the game, so if you'd rather give that a pass it might be worth avoiding this one, but with that said, you can get a good less-romantic ending if you fail to find Holo's hometown but still have an S rank intimacy, or if you find her hometown with an A-B rank, they're also happy endings. However, if you fail to get that close, even if you find her hometown, the endings are a bit... tragic.

    I think that you're fairly unlikely to get a bad ending unless you purposely try to, but if you unlock all 11 endings (or use the cheat code provided), you can see a special message from Holo's voice actor, Ami Koshimizu!

    All I can translate at least is the "New Game" and "Options" buttons.

    @SDA No worries! I thought that was what you meant by "editing text after it'd been changed to English lettering", and not "I can translate Japanese if it's romaji", because that would be 100x worse :rofl2:

    Fortunately, there's absolutely no Japanese required for proofreading/playtesting!

    I understand. Well, I think I'm going to take part in proofreading Soul Eater: Monotone Princess, hoping that my PC is able to run Dolphin and that I'm good enough in English. 'Cause I'm following the news on the AGT Team website and that game, together with one for the WonderSwan, has been fully translated already.

    More interestingly, there's also one project in the "Upcoming translations" section that even if it isn't started yet, it's got files set up already so anyone interested can kick-start it. Originally there were two, but someone decided to lead one of them and as of today it's in early stages. If I could translate from Japanese, I'd really begin that other unstarted project.

    Could you please join us down at the AGT Team Discord and let me know what your username is so I can add you to the dedicated channel for Soul Eater: Monotone Princess? You'll also need to make a github account if you don't have one, and then send us your email to gain access to the repository where we keep all of the game files.

    Unfortunately, it can be a bit complicated to first get things set up, especially if you're new to github and using command line tools, but we'll be able to talk you through all that, and it only needs doing once!

    And yes, Haribeau recently started work on Death Note: Kira Game, which is really exciting! They were also the translator for Monotone Princess and Shito Ikusei, so you just know it's going to be amazing! Mushishi: Amefuru Sato (the unstarted project), is also a really interesting one. It's only had a brief mention on the blog, but one of the really cool things about that is that Illidan was able to hack the handwriting recognition system to accept English characters, which just blows my mind :rofl2:

    Alas, we can only take on as many projects as there are people with free time willing to work on them which is something I always find upsetting when people make requests and we're just physically unable to offer any help, but, this is getting long now so I'd better stop blabbing(!)

    Ahh, I thought this was a merchant sim focused on various routes and exploration, and events (eg. pick the mountain route instead of the plains route, and something different happens, and you might unlock a different town/storyline). Something like a gamebook that has various branching paths depending on what choice you pick, but it's a little bit more locked in, similar to some visual novels and you get to select which town you want to travel to, which further modifies the events and story branch you get! :) Dang, and here I was hoping for some fun hardcore merchant simulator, mixed in with exploration and choices that affect the story and paths.

    But that's fine, I might check it out anyway, just to see what it's like and experience the non-linearity you mentioned! :) (so some of it is there, hehee). I didn't realize it was supposed to be a full on romantic sim, I thought Holo is just your friend and companion you take care of.
