I'm VERY interested to know where the byte for the body model is stored (possibly for other characters, as well as MU, if you know for sure). Any chance I could bother you to either post here or PM me?
By changing to a female class. The Avatar and Kana will switch to their other gender counterpart's body\armour model and textures, instead generic body\armour models, like most characters. Switching Xander or his kid to female paladin will lose their bad-assery. They're only bad-asses as male paladins (and maybe male cavalierly). I wish at least one kept their bad-assery as a great knight.
However, like anyone else, changing the class doesn't affect head model. You need to edit the character byte for that.
That works on Kana to make them from male to female Kana, though I think they have the same head, but it does affect their dialogue.
But changing between male\female avatar seems to have no effect at all. The head and potrait do not change, nor does the dialogue seem to, still refering to themself as the original gender in dialogue. This may be due to Kana's dialogue being based solely on their own gender, while everyone else is based on what gender the avatar started as.
Though, the only dialogue Kana seems to have with female Kana is in Live 2D, where she refer's to them as "papa" or some such. At least changing Kana's gender doesn't break that, just bends it slightly.
However, I have achieved what I wanted without altering the had or portrait.
I have found the perfect male head.
Now I need screenshots of female avatar (or Kana) in different classes to see which best suits the look and weapon I'm aiming for.
Preferably sword-wielding classes.

EDIT:
Hm... Fates's save file changes its size from time to time?
Sorry… Kinda missed your post's existence for a bit.
Awakening, Fates, and a quite a bunch more, have save files that grow in size as you progress in the game, because having an off\on switch for everything in those games is ridiculous. It's easier to amend data into a file then it is to write up an entire pre-save file,
especially if games like that let you recruit
the characters of other players.
