Hi guys i need some directions: i can't run any game, some hangs on sega screen, some others (like sega gt or virtua tennis) starts but after one minute the emulator crashes with the black screen saying to press power button and reboot
    EDIT:
the issue was because i was launching reicast from album. Launching a game and then press R for launching reicast from homebrew menu did the trick

IMG_4853.PNG Everything runs great! However theres a really bad sprite bug in MVC 2
I would assume the same bug would carry over to CvS
But also theres a pretty huge problem with textures and all that the biggest offender was Project Justice, the text was in the wrong places and menu text or garbled textures would appear in cutscenes
Sometime even wrong potraits of characters and that can even carry on into the fight
Garbled text and textures everywhere (this was also a bit of a problem on the MVC2 character select screen)

It's happening with a lot of games right now. A fix is in the works but no ETA.

I meant a standalone emulator. Also, I couldn't even get it to run on my Switch. (Atmosphere CFW crashes when I try to load any ROM for any system).

Saying Retroarch sucks is disrespectful to the people that put countless hours working on it while most of us (probably 99% of us) have it working great. You're doing something wrong most likely which is why it sucks for you.

I wouldn't hold my breath for a standalone N64 emulator. There's just no reason to as again Retroarch works great.

If you need to modify the contents of your VMU and can't wait for an updated version of Reicast that fixes the bios textures, give Dream Explorer a try, I just tested it and it runs great for me. Just add the CDI as you would any other Dreamcast game, there's also a ton of completed save games and other cool stuff on there including the seasonal Sonic Adventure DLC.

This. If anything, I would like to have reicast on Horizon and on RA as opposed to emulation ending at the N64 like every device did back in the WinXP days unless if you had a lot of money back then to run everything. It certainly would eliminate the need for having to try and install Ubuntu, follow a bunch of instructions, copy things in a VERY SPECIFIC way, etc..

Shit like that is why I wish someone would go ahead on developing Android further on the Switch or focus more development resources on Lakka and the like. Lakka, when I tried it, was impressive with how much it was capable of running. I know everyone is more hyped up about GC emulation, but outside of games that won't ever be re-released (Soul Calibur 2, the Viewtiful Joe games, Metroid Prime Trilogy as much as I want to be hopeful about that eventually getting a port, etc..) to the Switch (as opposed to Guilty Gear X2 Accent Core Plus R and Resident Evil 4, which has enough versions to do a parody of that "8 ways to play Frogger" poster from years ago), the DC has more games that have a lower chance to ever appear on Switch HW than the GC does. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they re-released the up-ports of Twilight Princess and Wind Waker to the Switch given how much of a Wii U remaster machine the Switch is. What I would personally love to see is more Wii ports given the functionality of the Joy-Cons, myself.

Will this be added to retroarch? They've converted me into a fan of the All-In-One type setup.

He knows. Not trying to white knight in here but it seems every 5 other pages of the thread it gets lost in conversation that he's already acknowledged the issue and has been working on it.

It's called texture invalidation and has been mentioned numerous times so far.

Everybody relax. You didn't even remotely think you'd get Reicast on Horizon this fast or functional, surely you can wait a few more days/weeks?

I agree with the sentiment, but remember how everyone was clamoring for N64 emulation on Horizon, and it (from my experience, anyways) is still problematic? That's kind of where DC emulation is at right now with an alpha that, yes, while I poked fun at the glitches, I am genuinely excited for more of the arcade games that, if we're gonna be honest here, have about as much of a chance of MUGEN coming to the Switch via homebrew as they do through any official channels. SNK is only relevant in the most hardcore of the FGC scene, and the future of the Marvel Vs. Capcom series post-Infinite is looking dim in spite of rumors of MVC4 and how much Disney likes to meddle with things because they want to push the MCU so hard when there's many characters who haven't had a presence in the MCU in any form or fashion who should've been in Infinite *coughs in X-Men, Fantastic 4, Punisher, and many others I haven't listed that would be cool to see on the roster*. Melty Blood has been superseded by UNIB/UNIST/Anime in Pretentious Title (would love to see either or both on the Switch tbh, and yes, I know the title makes some sense in the context of the game's poorly proofread story mode). And that's not going into the other games that I doubt will ever see a Switch release anytime soon (Shenmue, the Sonic Adventure games, Crazy Taxi (actually wouldn't be surprised to see this one, but the second one...again, licensing...), Ikaruga came to the Switch, though it's not like it's not on every device under the sun).

If anything, after DC, I think Saturn emulation would be cool all things considered, though given the current state of even Yabause, it would be haphazard on the Switch. Not even the port on Lakka runs perfectly (and that's the case for the PS1 as well when it runs better in Horizon oddly enough). GC emulation would be nice too, but I think that by the time we get hardware that could run it portably at consistent speeds and be reliable and not be the GPD WIN2, I wouldn't be surprised if it's when gaming becomes more service based and companies actually try to do the whole streaming box idea. Maybe I'm being cynical, but with how dystopian everything is starting to become these days (Walmart cutting down costs by employing more robots to even my local stores, people starting to become more accepting of microchip implants in Europe and that one company here in America, and Samsung phones not being able to uninstall Facebook), it's hard to put a happy face on when you see stuff going on that makes you question whether you want to start a family and raise kids up in a world that's primed for something like China's social credit system.

Damn, how did I go from talking about emulation to politics?

I personally agree with all of the points you made, but the fact still stands though, this is a guy who has a life and has several branches of Reicast on which he works at the same time. Whether we want to admit or not, Android has a far larger userbase than the Switch and has been evidently easier to program and optimize for, so let's give the guy some breathing space and let him work his magic. :)

To be honest i have already booted both dosmugen via dosbox and openmugen via ppsspp. I abandoned such efforts and am now working on linmugen via ubuntu. If i can get hangover to run i might just be able to pull it off. I think linmugen is much closer to reality than you assume...

Yeah, but is linmugen equivalent to MUGEN 1.1 Beta ideally, MUGEN 1.0, MUGEN+, or regular, good 'ole WinMUGEN with all of the problems it comes with?

And as much as I'd love to use Ubuntu, the random problems I run into (mostly because I've never seriously considered using it until recently, and I JUST got my desktop computer back up and running and am still in the middle of reorganizing things in the aftermath and am waiting to save up enough money to buy two internal Samsung 4TB SSDs to eliminate any space capacity problems in the future), be it things not running the way they should or, like I'm experiencing with RA right now, none of the cores showing up and being unable to download any more. And even if it did DL them, it wouldn't even be all of them in my experience.

My bad when i say linmugen i actually mean winmugenhd. It is confusing. Let me explain. So basically linmugen you talk about prob wont happen at least not until 32 bit linux is supported in arm. While i think linmugen is perfectly fine if you know how to use it it does have a few limitations. Im attempting to actually use wine/hangover to run hdwinmugen actually tho.

Look long story short you made a claim without actually checking and i dont want someone who loves mugen to read what you wrote without any knowledge of issue and think you are right cause well you arent...

    Ciao!

Because literally NONE OF THIS WAS NECESSARY.

    Or this.

    Or this.

I'd like to ask kindly that you discuss this elsewhere.

Damn, this thread is going nowhere really quickly, and is overlooking the simple fact that people are human and things take time. Leave it be until something tangible comes up again, please?
