Ohhhhh... I'm itching to buy this refurbished DSL:

But I have heard not so good things about refurbished DS Lites...

eg... microphone does not work, screen has dead pixels... etc

Does anyone have any good experiences with them?

I want this case!

No, that's cool...

It won't look exactly like the original, but I like the design...I am cool with yellow printed on black.

I just want it to function 100% (or at least 90%) like an orig. DSL.

The one in your image is laser engraved.... the case from Price angels, I am sure, is printed like this.... it will look different, but i am not so concerned with this....

just the functionality

I'm really against buying major purchases from china unless you have a reliable way of contacting the people behind the product and can get a return/dispute taken care of within a reasonable amount of time.

EBGames sell second hand DS for $138. You check them before purchase and have a year warranty. They also come with an Australian Power Plug, so there's no need for a convertor/ purchase of another charger.

Yeah, I saw a new lime green DSL at EB for $190 or so.
I was thinking about getting it....

But I like the "Nintendo World" mushroom case....

Its design of case VS 100% functionality.
You have to pick.

Btw, you'll be looking at the screens more than the case. I'm sure a dead pixel will be far more annoying than a common case.

Did Nintendo actually release that design on the market?

I've always thought when the Chinese say "refurbished" it's like a nice word for fake and allows them to package it without boxes (and keeps your expectations lower...) - rather than actually being an original refurbished model.

My refurbished one came with box/manual/charger etc...

Of course, everything is fake (almost everything, only the motherboard and other working parts are genuine), but you have a box.

I have it since more than one year now, it still works perfectly, a real bargain for 80$ shipped.

Like someone above said, Nintendo probably send their broken DSs to a group in China where they replace the broken parts then sell them off as refurbished. You can't fake a motherboard, but everything else is "serviceable" with enough patience and finger finess... I'd say these are probably better than second hand DSs, because they're packaged in new, if cheap, cases.

I bet they could, I once saw a TV program on the fake industry in China. They were even faking eggs would you believe. Give a person enough intensive and the correct tools and they will find a way to do it.

It is most likely not cost effective to fake a motherboard.

Getting a 2nd hand motherboard from an old DSL would be cheaper than producing a new one, I imagine...
