I got a new laptop for Christmas, and I'm still getting all the stuff I want set up. I've already configured my internet, browser, Bluetooth(settings, stack, and dongle), codecs, and media players, as well as my antivirus. I've also got a few lower-end games like Halo, BZFlag, and GTA:San Andreas set up, since I only have integrated graphics. Does anyone have any interesting or particularly useful software to install while I'm at it? Maybe Vista Gadget things?

As an aside, I'm using dial-up internet; while I can obtain large files fairly easily, I'd like to steer clear of internet-heavy apps, except LimeWire and uTorrent.

I've been using LimeWire for years and never have gotten a virus. You just gotta be careful of what you click and download. If it has a strange name, generally its a virus. Apart from that, you can't beat LW if you want single MP3 tracks.

Don't dismiss this great app, it's awesome if used correctly and wisely. And use a decent AV, please.

I've been using Limewire for a year and a half, and I've never had a problem, even on computers with virtually nonexistent antivirus. I've been fine with Limewire, uTorrent, and avast! for as long as I can remember.
