well i got off the phone with Nintendo Australia today, they said they want $30 to check the wii, if they cant fix it (i'm sure they cant it's a full brick) I gotta pay $250 for a brand new wii and i gotta pay for the shipping there, so i'd rather just buy a new wii for $400. I was just wondering is there a market out there for wiis like this, maybe someone will buy for parts or something, or should i not bother and just throw it. i was thinking of putting it on eBay for cheap but i dont know.

Nintendo can fix full bricks. Unless you broke something with the hardware, they should be able to fix it. Just expect to be upgraded to 4.0 without any cIOS.

Buy a new wii and replace the insides with the ones from the bricked one, then take it back to the shop and get a replacement, then you will have two brand new wii's, one to keep and one to sell. I done this with a PS2 and they swapped it with no questions asked.

I'd just like to interject a "green"(I really hate the way that word is used) message here. Don't throw electronics in the trash, recycle or dispose of them properly as they contain various hazardous materials. K thx bye.

nah i dont have warranty anymore, i dont think i can fix it with a modchip either. it's a full brick and i cant get into recovery mode causei didn't have Preloader/starfall installed.

darkzero, not woth it, it'd probably cost me more than that to ship it to America (i assume thats were you are judging by the flag under your nick).

    Which kind of brick?

Which city are you in? Maybe I can help.

    Maybe ozmodchips can help.

How is paying nintendo $250 for a new wii worse than paying $400 for a new one from a shop?

Run through this chart -> http://savemii.net/troubleshooting.html

because i wouldn't have to wait 5-8 weeks for them to bring it back, not to mention they'll just send a wii, where as if i buy it from the store i can get a new controller and some games with it to so i'd rather that. also it's a full brick, all i get is black, nothing else, i cant turn it off without holding thep ower button for a while, and i dont have recovery mode installed so save mii isn't an option.

Sounds like a banner brick, not a full brick.

Full brick shows the opera error.

It's probably either a bad WAD or a bad bluetooth module.

How did the brick happen? Had you just installed some WADs?

Either of those are fixable fairly cheaply.

You don't need to have done anything in advance to use savemii / savemiifrii! it is an option for *any* wii.

I'm not sure if they only send a wii or a package. Either way, $150 buys you more than a new controller, if that's what you really want.

    Ugh.. well.... maybe...

Savemii / savemiifrii + an original disc with IOS60 on it might fix it. Maybe. I'm sure nintendo could fix it at least.

It's not a full brick in the sense of a cross region disc with a newer update munting your system menu - things get a bit complicated when you start screwing around with all this soft stuff.
