Hey guys.

After letting my Wii sit in the closet for about six months, I decided to drag it out and run it through the update gauntlet to make sure I was ready to handle the latest homebrew and backups. I started with a 4.1U softmod (also modchipped), and used the GBA temp ModMii guide to go ahead and update.

Nice experience, seemed to do the trick. Pushed my preloader to priiloader, got the 4.3U update and finished the process.

I had used USB Loader GX before all this and it worked fine with my 32GB USB drive. But I gave ModMii the benefit of the doubt and tried Configurable USB-loader and the wiibackupmanager. I reformatted the USB drive to WBFS and put on two games, then fired up Configurable USB-loader. It works fine, games load without issue, but I prefer the look of USB Loader GX better.

So I went and updated my USB Loader GX install. Wiped out the old config folder just to be sure, deleted the old channel and stuck in the new one. Unfortunately, it seems to think my drive isn't formatted with a supported format. When I attempt to format it from inside USB Loader GX, I get a large box with a wrench in it that is otherwise empty.

I know the drive works in Configurable USB-loader, but USB Loader GX doesn't seem to like it anymore. I suspect I might have fouled something up when I ran Pimp My Wii 2.22 out of habit. Alas, as proficient as I am with Windows OSes, the layers of IOS and cIOS revisions bewilder me.

I'm hoping you helpful people could lend me some insight as to what might be wrong.

tl;dr, but stay away from GX. It's been known to have issues and might not be compatible with the d2x cios's. If you con't like CFG, then try wiiflow. GX has been known to be able to brick wii's before.

Thanks folks.

Since everything seems to be working on Configurable USB Loader, I guess I'll just stick with that. I'll abstain from pimp-my-wii usage, but I'm glad no one has pointed out that anything is glaringly broken.

(I did try the more recent build of USB Loader GX, and it was still a no go. Sigh.)
