    Ok I just figured out how Hector Martin's sysconf.c works.I know how to create the boot.dol. But little birdie told me reading sys file is dangerous? How is that possible? Its not like I am touching that area with my fingers? Or is it?

    The multimod manager developer modified sysconf.c to read password info.

    i think sysconf holds the information about your wiimotes and wired lan card addon.

    If you google for "wii /shared2/sys/SYSCONF" you will see details and the website.

    Modmii has an option to display the content of that file.

    Modmii uses a sysconf.c written by Hector Martin.

    is it dangerous to run an app to explore systemfile?

    If Modmii can use it safely, it should be safe? I guess I answered my own question.

    I just want a stand alone app to view system info.

    uname does some of it but not the password info.

    you wont get any valueable information on SYSCONF, if you were hoping that the WiiShop information is in that file, then you're wrong.

    SYSCONF contains all configurations that you have set on your Wii System Settings, no more no less.

    Modmii isn't a wii program so it doesn't do any of that stuff.

    Every homebrew app that uses libogc parses SYSCONF on startup. If they didn't, they wouldn't know which wiimotes are registered, which video mode to use etc. You can access this information in your program by using functions from conf.h:
    Code:
    s32 CONF_GetShutdownMode(void);
    s32 CONF_GetIdleLedMode(void);
    s32 CONF_GetProgressiveScan(void);
    s32 CONF_GetEuRGB60(void);
    s32 CONF_GetIRSensitivity(void);
    s32 CONF_GetSensorBarPosition(void);
    s32 CONF_GetPadSpeakerVolume(void);
    s32 CONF_GetPadMotorMode(void);
    s32 CONF_GetSoundMode(void);
    s32 CONF_GetLanguage(void);
    s32 CONF_GetCounterBias(u32 *bias);
    s32 CONF_GetScreenSaverMode(void);
    s32 CONF_GetDisplayOffsetH(s8 *offset);
    s32 CONF_GetPadDevices(conf_pads *pads);
    s32 CONF_GetNickName(u8 *nickname);
    s32 CONF_GetAspectRatio(void);
    s32 CONF_GetEULA(void);
    s32 CONF_GetParentalPassword(s8 *password);
    s32 CONF_GetParentalAnswer(s8 *answer);
    s32 CONF_GetWiiConnect24(void);
    s32 CONF_GetRegion(void);
    s32 CONF_GetArea(void);
    s32 CONF_GetVideo(void);

    Thanks tueidj. I got Modmii mixed up with multimod manager. No offence to either developer intended! Should have posted here in the first place.

    That's not quite true. There are more things stored in there than just what you can access from your System Settings, such as info on your Wii remotes and whether or not you have watched to Motion+ video. Here is an (incomplete) list of what you can find in SYSCONF.

    I can't think of any reason to get WiiShop info. All the wiiwares and vcwares (should crapware) are available freely. If I try to access credit card info, that would be criminal offense,

    Why did I look for password info? So, I could reset it; a little kid can't do a network update. I do not want to use MMM. I suggest putting a tape on disc slot with wiisport in it. Don't touch the Wii, unplug/replug the power code for resetting. See how, I get away without installing priiloader.

    Since when is wiibrew prohibited? I hope it's not, because that would just be stupid.

    But...the code you linked to was from WiiMU, neither ModMii nor MMM...
    WiiBrew? Why on earth do you think WiiBrew would be a "prohibited" site? It is pretty much the home of all non-warez homebrew.

    What? Wiibrew illegal to link to? They are anti-pirates/warez, they even deleted homebrew which used cIOS to be clean.
    You already asked me in PM and I told you there's nothing wrong with Wiibrew.

    No, not really. I had a PM conversation with Cyan, regarding deletion of my two other posts in two other threads.

    Actually, in MMM author says he used modified version of Hector Martin's of it. When I looked at it a few months ago, I took it as he was using that. Maybe he is using something else. I just read through that module and It looked interesting. Better than "Hello World" program. At that time there I was not able to find docs on MMM.

    Thanks, from the conversation that we had It was quite clear that you did not do it. I am no expert on these boards, but there are other mods in here too right? May be they were not deleted, may be I hit the wrong button!

    Peace?

    It may well be used in MMM, I don't know/care. But the code you linked to is part of the WiiMU source code. And you won't ever find MMM source, because it was made by some jerk who used code from dozens of GPL apps, packaged them together in a much buggier bundle and released it without source, violating GPL. (Making it actually illegal to distribute MMM).

    Thanks Sifjar! I learned something new (i.e. all along I thought MMM guy had blessings from the others?) by asking questions that may sound inane.

    I don't think that was confirmed actually.
