"GitHub has restored a fork of the fan-made “Re3” project that published reverse-engineered code of the popular GTA 3 and Vice City games. The action follows a counter-notice sent by a third-party developer in response to Take-Two Interactive's takedown. Github followed the DMCA procedure and isn't publicly taking sides."

This so awesome I can not even say thank you enough times man!!!! From the moment I read about the re3 project I always dreamed of one day porting it to the GameCube or Wii....hoping they might be powerfull enough to run it ofcourse. I really have no idea if they can...never looked into the memory requirements.

I have tested it on my Wii U from the SD card and played on through the first couple of missions. This brings back sooooo many memories:D I must have bought this game so many times over and over...just like GTA 5 I guess. For the PC, PS2, on steam...en more recently on the PS4 I think.:rofl2:

Great work man! I really hope the issue with take two get resolved.:yayu:

I have been playing ~1 hour straight and seems stable so far, no single crash, unlike every other port to consoles. Performance seems to suffer a bit from I/O I'd say, but it's perfectly playable.

Minor problems I have seen: LOD models in cinematics seem weird, I have to compare them with the original game, and sometimes particle alpha effects (rain on screen) are opaque.

Edit: Oh, and Ammu-Nation weapon selection control seem to work wrong. You have to circle the joystick clockwise in order to move the selection to the right and counterclockwise to the left.

@GaryOderNichts Awesome work thank you. I really hope some one like Modern Vintage Gamer picks this up and does a video! Have you got a list of known issues with GTA3 that you are looking to work through? Likewise do you know anyone that has completed the game on this port?

Keep up the great work - the WiiU lives!

From what people say pvp isn't even worth it
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I just been playing offline, and they give you a few bots here n there on your team to help battle. I don't think it's as funny as the other games tho, more battle oriented than humor, which kinda sucks, but I'm still early in it
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, doesnt the game have a campaign mode?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea, and co-op, but you can also start a pvp session and battle just with friends. You get special skill cards (powers) the more you play. And higher value cards, but you can only enable so many cards at a time.

If you can find enough for it
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Toilet paper is considered the money, you collect and buy stuff with TP, kinda funny. Graphics are def better than the other games tho, I think they used Unity 5 engine.

I bet most people at the time still watched it in black and white
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Many of them did before colour television was common.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Likely because black and white TV was in-expensive.

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
It certainly wasn't inexpensive it cost the same as a new car back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
How much did a 1965 color TV cost?

For example, a 21-inch (diagonal) GE color television in 1965 had an advertised price of $499, which is equal to $4,724 in today's dollars, according to the federal government's inflation calculator.

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@K3Nv2, take into consideration how economy was back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah that's why they listed inflation rates
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    Sorry didnt read that part
