    It is a REAL thing

No director attached yet but TJ Fixman, the writer for the series, is set to write and several of the main voice actors are set to provide the voices.
For those not so familiar with the series it is a series of 3d platformer games, though platformer in the later Rare sense rather than straight mario clone, made by Insomniac (Resistance series) and published by Sony as about the only to resemble a proper Sony mascot now Spyro went multiplatform and crash bandicoot disappeared into the ether. Of all the titles like it today it is probably one of the best suited for adaptation into a film as well.

Well, it can't be any worse than the Super Mario Bros. movie.

You know, of all Sony's current franchises, I think this has the most potential to work out. The story and characters would be pretty well-suited to film.

    Fingers crossed.

You pick on the rest, but you leave Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat (at least, the first one) alone. They are goddamned classics.

It's being written by Insomniac's own....I'm surprised at the level of doom in this topic. I'm actually already looking forward to it after only learning about it 5 minutes ago!

Granted MK was the only game turned movie done fairly well out of the bunch but SF the Movie could have been a hell of a lot better than that trash that got rolled out ^_^ I mean they could have even used better actors, it's not like Capcom didn't have a decent budget for that film.

Implying that movie doesn't have the greatest performance ever put to film.

I think it'll be just fine, only if it's Animated though. I really hope we've learned that Live Action Video Game Movies don't work.

If they stick with CGI, this has potential to be great.

Next, I'll take a MMO set in the R&C universe. They sure enough lore for one.

EDIT: Teaser finally loaded for me. Freaking great. This has some seriously good potential.

Mario Bros, Double Dragon, Street Fighter, Ace Attorney, Resident Evil.

And now, Jak and Daxter. Curiously, I wonder why they chose such a series that has fallen to the wayside.

A Ratchet and Clank movie could be pretty interesting.

EDIT: Whoops, my brain wasn't working at the time of this post.

Well, crap. This is why people shouldn't be allowed on the internet when they're half-asleep.

I guess it's understandable. Both are PS2 Classics, both star two main characters, both ........

    ....uh.....

    both have CGI?

No, they aren't very similar, actually.
