He didn't steal anything. It's available for everyone.
But he didn't give credit to anyone of the translators or even to DarthNemesis for making the tool.

Also this is what a member of the team said on the gamefaq's thread:
Hey Judas5434, this is twiztidsinz from the project.
I just wanted to start off by thanking you for only stealing PART of our work and credit
"So this way I don't want to steal all their credit."
By doing what would only take us 5 minutes to do and make far more accessible than the way you are doing it.

Because of your hard work, the spreadsheets are now locked so that unauthorized viewers cannot view them! Also I have asked DarthNemesis to do the same to the wiki.

Again, thank you for taking our work and distributing it against our wishes.
Even though we are fully capable of releasing patches, we have decided not to release any of the work until we were satisfied that the job was completed enough and things were fully checked over.
Have a happy new year!!

And this is What DarthNemesis said:
The main reason the team decided to hold off on patches is because the translation is unstable and there are bound to be crashes. I suggested to twiz that we start releasing official patches again since it's easy for us to compile, and it's clear you guys are willing to deal with the instability in order to play the game in English.

QFT.

Also, +1 for locking the spreadsheets/wiki and releasing patches at milestones.

He did. It's in his first sentence actually and on top of that DarthNemesis seems to have no problem at all with these "unofficial" patches. And again you can't steal something that's available for all. If that's not what the translators intended you shouldn't made it public in the first place.

if you want to test the translation no problem, it is unstable but you can test it

but i'll sugest some thing before.

Do not try do compile the script, theye are very unstable, just compile the menu (msg_menu, town_menu, town_menu sub ....) and the item and skill (item.ldb, skill.ldb and all other file item related) also take the msg_map, it is clean,
With these files you can have a 95 % stable translation and a lot of english
biggrin.gif

Actually, the script is stable now =P... took some time to test in the nds once and again and fix all the scripts that are translated by now but is finally stable... I hope kinopiko start translating again soon ^^

Actually it was open translation for testing purposes and for anyone who wanted to help could do so... not to make unnoficial patches, distribute them in other sites and just say "i dont wanna take all the credit" and so...

And btw... Darth is one member of the team... who made the ragnaroktrans and updates it... but is not the only person who works here and some ppl dont wanna see its job in random sites just as "some gbatemp members".

Sure you can. It's called "OPEN SOURCE".
There have been more than a few court cases over corporations using Open Source (publicly available source code) in their proprietary (closed source) projects.
QUOTE
I'm not calling this official because I know how much work gbatemp translation team is working on this ragnarok patch. So this way I don't want to steal all their credit. And I really appreciate their hard work.

Again every patch I release will have 99% no crashes, and has been tested a lot of times.

Everything is discussed in the readme in the archive. And things I need help are in the readme also if you would like to make the process faster.

*Also if there is any error that I missed I guess.. then I would appreciate you to report them
While he DOES mention that there is a team working on this project, he fails to provide any link to the Project's wiki or to GBAtemp or to list -ANY- of the members.
Zero credit for DarthNemesis' tool that he used.
Zero credit for anyone on the translation team for the menus.
Zero credit for kinopiko for story translation.
Zero credit for anyone who's worked to fix bugs.

In fact, even though there was a small mention of the GBAtemp team, he spends more time telling people that all patches HE releases are 99% crash free and that HE has tested it and if there are any problems to let HIM know.

What good does HIM fixing problems for HIS release do the project?
Since WE still have to find those bugs and WE still have to fix those bugs, that delays OUR release of official work.
Many thanks to everyone who's worked on the project, even if you're not listed here (there has been a TON of people, and unfortunately we dont have a great way of tracking who's contributed).

message detail I already on my way to translate somethings of the storyline but it will take some time.

And for the choosing Kafra, I'll look it over.

He is on his way to translate somethings in the storyline? and then he "releases some "teasers" with 2 opening scenes?" xDDD

I believe he has access to the sheets and is just stealing and making patches 'cause as soon as I fixed the scripts he releases that... Thats sad... even though the wiki is open source and whatever... the sheets are suposed to be for the translation team and the translation team only... and going there to steal our hard work and not only dont give credit but dont even care if the team decided to dont release a patch yet is just sad... He just wanna be famous with lil work...

I added a Contributors section to the spreadsheet for people to update if they are not included on the Wiki.

I'm fairly certain releasing official patches at milestones will be the best way to overcome any problems anyone has with the credit.

You know, this whole "stealing" thing can be easily fixed. Just move the database to a private place.

Or better yet, start translating things wrong and then see if he adds them to his patch. Then you'll know for sure if he's using your translations.

Actually in the readme he is adding now with the rom... He states what does he uses from the team and what he has translated...

The problem goes where the reason why a patch hasnt been distributed yet is because the team didnt wanted to distribute a half baked patch and he uses what works... fixes some freezes from some testing... translates some random words... translates d0000 and d0100 (dunno how... i wonder if he saw the preview video twiz posted or he knows some japanese (what i doubt)) and starts distributing a compiled rom with a txt giving some credit and stuff...

Anyway... any random person who gets a rar with a txt called readme IMPORTANT and a rom with the game they really wanted to play... they dont really read the txt... just play the rom xD... And the problem is probably not the credit alone but going against the wishes of the translators... Using their files and using them in a patch when they dont wanna release any yet. (and worst of all... they see judas as a hero for doing a patch for the ppl who cant do that)

-edit: didnt notice that a similar post was posted while i was posting
-editX2: if the whole team really wants him to stop, why dont they send someone to ask, nicely instead of having someone flip out on him like twiz did

guys this is in the readme that is downloaded with what he is sending people, it was in there from the start
Please stop saying that he isnt giving any credit while he is

Sneak Peak for patch

-This is my first time translating. But I only did a few of the things (Noobish kind of)...
It's frustrating when you see so many crashes also haha.. Well enjoy

**UPDATES
-No Crashes at all!! (But Password screen works but don't press Password button)=who cares right...
-Quests are translated kind roughly and Parts of Mirage tower also.
-Weapons/equips are translated only the special like +int,
for now weapon desc isn't important since I know the special
effects listed

HELP- If I could get clear and concise information about quests
that would be extremely helpful. Ex. are from the patch also that you
see

*****Use at your own risk!!!!
*******Remember to Back up Your own Gamesave

Crash seldom at Wifi Config screen, but most of the time works

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tested with M3 lite lul

4x Force write

Other translation were from the Ragnarok Translation Wiki.
Great Thanks to The Translation team

You should move the thing to a private place, then open the public spreadsheet and have people translate it wrong.

I believe thats not the solution... Why is open is for ppl who wanna do the testing and for the ppl who want to repack the game for themselves and play...

I guess he thought he could just give credit to the ppl who made the translations, make some changes and distribute his own version but thats not why the translation was open at the first place...

If we do that... ppl will not be able to test and/or will not see if we are moving foward with the translation... (not to mention is kinda childish doing such a thing)

ill say what i said at the other board so people will understand where at least one of many people is coming from

believe me, i know about this whole stealing issue and how it can be frustrating as im from the mugen community, most times people that steal dont give a damn about anyone or anything, and argue that it was free for the taking when it was up for download, but i dont agree with that, its just your xlation team never mention anywhere to not do what judas is doing. in fact it said someing about doing it for yourself, so it raised the question about doing it for others, understand what i mean?
