Hacking R4i-SDHC 3DS freeze on RTS save/load

Hi,

just got my secondhand 3DS XL (fw 6.2) it came with R4 card (photo).
There were no microsd, so no firmware, so I've downloaded 1.78b from http://www.r4i-sdhc.com/downloade.asp is that one ok?
The problem is, when I use RTS (L+R+A+B), it usually works for the first load/save, but when I try to bring the menu again, it freezes. I can kill it (using Home) though.
Any idea what's wrong? did I download wrong kernel?
The card firmware says it's for 6.2 3DS, so that should be ok.

PS: maybe if I'll try Wood kernel? would it work on this card?
EDIT: If I try wood kernel, can anything worse happen than that it won't run and I'll have to replace the kernel back?

solved ... it started to work on it's own ....

I've been trying to run some wood or ys or anything for like 5 hours, finally managed to run wood 1.62 and found out it doesn't support RTS ... gave up, put back original firmware and it somehow started to work :-/
let's see for how long ...
