I have the first R4i-Sdhc with firmware 1.08b. On the website they stopped supporting the dsi v1.3 or lower carts. so i was wondering, since they are based off the dstt or dstti makeup, is it possible that i can use the latest dstti firmware and just rename the important files in it? Could anyone help me with this question, cause ive already used the search box. thanks in advance.

you cant use the DSTT kernel or YSMenu on your R4i-SDHC

If you want the perfect R4 Style for DSi, you can buy a iEDGE !

With this linker, no problem in the futur

Actually it can use both. You just load them up as you would a game. Dunno where you get your info...

@OP: I've tried swapping and renaming files to update it, but the only files that seem swapable are the savlib.dat, extinfo.dat, and infolib.dat (renamed to GAMEINFO.dat for this cart).

Some R4i can use the DSTT kernel = yes
Some R4i can use the M3i Upgrade kernel to have access to the DSTT Kernel

But YSMenu on a R4i-SDHC ????

It's a DSTT clone. YSmenu is an alternative firmware built from the DSTT firmwares. It works, and it makes perfect sense as to why. There's just no reason to use it aside from alphabetizing your games, because it can just run the unofficial DSTT firmwares.

Not all R4i-SDHC can use DSTT kernel directly...

If you have a solution for them, im curious to see it

you can run ysmenu on r4i-sdhc...theres a way to run ysmenu directly, you don't even need the r4i-sdhc firmware on the card,,u have to hex edit ysmenu.nds and rename it into r4.dat

1.format ur sd card
2. create YSMENU with ttysauto or build it yourself
3. follow this guide->http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=187663
4. ???

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    nvm it does support mine
