We have completed the review of the 3DS-Compatible model of the R4i Gold. This review was conducted on the second hardware revision of this cart which contains new controller code, but the majority of the review pertains to the original model as well.[/p]

    rydian,
for your first review this was well written, well researched, and you put forth a great effort.

the r4i gold by the .cn/idsn team is a great cart. it is a great alternative to other dsi/3ds flash kits, has a nice build, and officially supports the wood firmware. it also has a great price point.

for those wondering, this cart is the same as the other r4i gold from the .cn team in regards to a majority of the hardware. what they changed was some controller chip code which is written during the manufacturing process. the old card can be updated for the dsi but this card is the one you need if you want to use it on the 3ds.

my original r4i gold review (which was about 75% done) was lost during a database crash earlier this year. rydian’s review can be read in regards to both kits, the only difference with this "update" is that it works on the 3DS.

While the old cart was updated for compatibility with the current 3DS firmware, since it contains a more basic control chip it's not as likely to survive 3DS updates as the new model is.

I don't get how it's different from other carts, though.
