i don't think japanese is crazy for them but it is pretty normal if they sell it via vending machine
since everywhere in japan is vending vachine
yeah, their vending sells all sort of stuff

by the way, is not hard to find flash cart on the akihabara streets (even though it is illegal)
they even have local websites that sell flash cart

anyway, flash cart is a good business in japan

as for the price tag? some of them don't mind paying and actually is not really that expensive
especially it might be a cost of one and a half game
it is basically for those who doesn't want or know how to get it via internet

Apparently one of their website got a very very competitive price

oh... as far as i know many of them visits DX

the problem with selling things other than junk food in vending machines in america is that there are delinquents that would break the vending machines for things other than junk food. there are places that sell ipods, psp, etc but those are in places where there are a lot of people around so that no one can cause trouble without being seen.
