So I have a working Clone card from www.r4isdhc.com.cn. I'm just curious about it... it seems to run the Wood firmware. I just updated the firmware with one from their website and it works. My belief is that it's Wood but with a new blue theme (the old one had wood grain theme with gbatemp exclusive wood r4 written as the default). The firmware from the website says R4iNP "Kernel".

From what I can gather this seems to be an Ace3DS clone.

My preference would be to run Retrogamefan's Ys Menu on it as that's what my other flash carts have. This cart is not listed however. I have tried the instructions and I get a _3dmenu.dat error even though that's what I named the dat file.

Is there a way to install Ys on it??? Or am I best to stick with the original firmware?

That card can't run YSMenu, YSMenu is mainly only for DSTT clones (and a couple others like the original R4) so it won't run on Ace3DS+ clones.

I think your only options for that card are the Ace3DS+ kernel or TWiLight Menu++.

That's what I was afraid of... at least there are some options. I don't think I want Twilight on there since I already have that on the DSi itself... would the ace3ds+kernel be better than Wood? Or is the actual native ace3ds+ firmware basically Wood?

I've installed Twilight Menu +++ as the main kernel and it works, although in order to boot games I had to enable nds-bootstrap. But since I already have Twilight on the DSi I'd like something else to run in native Classic DS mode. For now, I've installed the original firmware from the website (whatever version of Wood that happens to be) along with Twilight Menu as a secondary option. This seems sensible enough for now, but I'd shift to Ys Menu if I could.

How can I know which version of Wood that I have?

imo, just install the kernel fresh: https://flashcard-archive.ds-homebrew.com/Ace3DS+_R4iLS/Ace3DS+_R4iLS_Wood_R4_1.62_lite.7z

It's a forked version of Wood. TWiLight also supports running games with nativel kernel compatibility for this particular cart after I figured out how to do so.

YSMenu does not and will not work on this cart.

You have just saved my sanity. I bought some cheap flashcarts off ebay that turned out to be clones, and the site on the package was malware. This file will let me make more custom flashcarts for the neighbor boys (and myself). Thank you. :)

Wish I still had the r4isdhc_com_cn fork that came with mine, their take on the Wood firmware had such a unique feel to it. Simple and refined, but still useful. And much more organized than most firmware these days. I lost my microsd at some point and now they've resold the website, with a new fork that just feels like YSMenu in a Wood costume. If I wanted YSMenu i would just multiboot it on like any other cart in the world.

So it seems like the site has gone down and you can't get the original files anymore, so I'm uploading my copies to mega. For use with the r4isdhc.com.cn 2024 cards
