Hacking r4 instead of cyclo?

Due to the month long wait that i have suffered through, i am considering buying an r4.
are there any major differences anymore? the main thing that i am worried about is download play compatibility. i've read that the r4 has some problems with it, but i don't know if this is still true.
i dont care about sdhc support or touch screen gui that much.

Well they have been out of stock at all popular places due to a shortage of components. It would help if you could name one such store.

The CycloDS isn't in stock anywhere. The only reason I want this thing is because of SDHC support, I already bought one of the cards. TeamCyclops and their much vaunted "customer support" are really pissing me off.

Not to mention that TeamCyclops (the administrator himself) was missing in action for a month, responded to a question once, and then resumed his hiatus. Perhaps he is just working on getting the new batch ready; or he may have just started slacking off (anticipated by some). Luckily there seems to be a few more mods on the forum to regulate it.

The latest update (v1.11) fixed download play for the r4. All the games I have tried all work with download play.

i have tested the download play on the R4 with the latest firmware and i've never had a single broken download play.

I was like many and crashed on knowing that if I waited for the cyclo my wait might even be longer. But due to Halloween things are being delayed anyway. But I guess its either wait for an undetermined amount of time or break down and the the r4 like I did.

Dealextreme has a 32.90 r4 if you can wait 2-3 weeks.
