Hacking R4 freezes :s

hey all i just got a new R4 (newest batch ones) and whilst playing it has frozen on me 4 times now over the past three days.. only frozen on pokemon since thats the game i mainly play. i got a PNY 1 gig micro SD card so whats the reason for my game freezing? ive tested it on different DSs so thats not the problem.

use the ATTO benchmark program and see how fast the read/write times are

When you first used the memory card did you format it? My first batch had that problem till i formatted it. Then it hasnt locked up for a few months now.

If you've tested it on a different DS it pretty much rules out the card, R4 or the ROM being the problem.

EDIT: Assuming that when you tested it it was the same R4, same card (including the format, etc) and the same rom.

nah as u guys may of read i just swapped my R4 with my mate.. before i didnt have any problems with mine, but im thinking the memory card might be wearing out. and when i first got my memory card i didnt format it or anything. just plug and play

first is your card made in japan?

second does your card say SD-CO1/G on it?

third does your card have a little black sticker on the back of it.

Should be genuine then - speed should be more than adequate to run Pokemon without crashing. It seems to be happening to a lot of people lately. If you haven't, format your card in something it isn't currently in (eg. from FAT16 to 32). Worth a try

i didnt format it or anything. just plug and play

Backup all your files to your PC's hard disk.

Format your microSD card with FAT32.

Copy back all your files again to your microSD card.

RESTART your DS.

Play Pokemon Diamon/Pearl.

Any better?

k i reformatted my card from FAT to FAT32. bit tired now will try run it for an hour or so tomoro morning.

ive been playing the DS for about an hour or so and its all good so far

although i still notice bout 3 second white screen before pokemon loads

I've been playing Justice League Heroes and been experiencing similiar freezing problems. Sometimes it will freeze after an hour and other times it will freeze in 10 minutes. Other games such as Castlevania DOS have been working perfectly w/o any freezing or even slowdown on the same memory card.

BTW, I'm using an Amazon.com purchased Kingston MicroSD 1GB made in Taiwan :'( formatted to FAT32

My R4DS Froze twice in Cake Mania... that was on Firmware 1.08 beta.
Since 1.08 final I've had no freezes, and trust me I've been using it A LOT.

What firmware are you guys using?

i was using 1.08 (final) and it didnt freeze for a while until a couple of days ago. reformatted and all seems to be fine at the moment

Don't trim the rom.

same thing happens to me randomly on pokemon diamond (so i save often) and i have a kingston japan, this is the only game that i have experienced random freezes though.
