Hacking R4 Firmware

Hi. I was wondering on how to update my r4 (the original one)
I heard about the YSMENU but like I'm using a mac and I can't run windows programs.
Can you guys send me a step by step on how to change my firmware?

I believe one of the YSMenu generators works using Darwine.
