Homebrew support is not their fault, they released the fatlibs on their website, it's just a matter of time untill it gets support from the devs(i hope).
As for the GUI; it's moonshell, it can be skinned! yes the default skin has some problems (mainly at the game selection screens, WHY AREN"T THEY INVERTED! it would have made way more sense to use the touchscreen to scroll through the list and launch games, instead of using it to display the game's name) but that doesn't mean that it cant be fixed. so it's just another hopefully non-permenant con.
as for download and play, i suppose this might be important to some people, but really... how hard is it to flash a ds, it's easy and it takes like 1 min. besides, some games work and others dont (as mentioned before), so it shouldn't be a big con.

I'm sure I read in the global.ini in the hardcore 1.04 update, somewhere where you can specify which menu displays on which screen.
