Playstation Now is this kind of service. And Microsoft similarly now has Game Pass.
PS Now is a different type of service compared to Game Pass.
Game Pass provides subscribers access to downloadable games to play anytime.
PS Now is a "pay and maybe get to play your games that is heavily dependent on your network connection" type of service.

Do you want Nintendo to launch a PS Now like service?

... you're really splitting hairs here. The ultimate point of both services is you pay a monthly subscription price, and get to play any and all games from a selection of previously released games for previous Microsoft and Sony systems. That is what I'm saying I want, and I want it for Nintendo's virtual console service. And again, the small files sizes for the vast majority of Nintendo's backcatalog are so small, that you would download the data for any Nintendo game up to the N64 in a matter of minutes (if that) and be able to play without lag or connection issues. And if there would be such issues with Gamecube games, then I don't mind if Gamecube games (and Wii if they consider those for a VC service as well, not so sure how likely Wii is) for the virtual console are separate and you pay for each of those individually to permanently own and install on your Switch. Seems like a great idea to me.

agreed that I went off topic.
I just don't like the concept of game streaming because I will be at the mercy of my network provider.
Btw, I thought game streaming (PS Now) means that your device only has video signal sent from servers and zero game codes in your device. Why did you assume you could play your game offline even for a second?

I didn't assume anything. I'm just speaking of hypothetically of how Nintendo could handle it. N64 games only ever got as large as 512MB and the largest DS games were only 256MB. I see no reason why these games would have to be streamed, and couldn't instead be temporarily downloaded in full, and then removed when you leave the virtual console. 512MB would take at most maybe 5 to 10 minutes to download. Like I said, Nintendo's virtual console more than anything would be best fitted for this kind of service because of how small their past games were before reaching the Gamecube era and beyond.

Hopefully they choose the simpler route: Download and do a license check after x amount of time.
Seems unnecessary to keep your servers busy just to respond to floods of download request frequently for a successful device.

All I'm saying is I want a monthly subscription service for the virtual console where I pay a monthly fee and get unlimited access to any and all games on the virtual console for that month. A netflix like service for Nintendo's virtual console just makes sense to me, and I'd be so much more willing to pay a monthly fee for something like that than I would be to pay for each old school game I want to play individually, especially for NES, SNES, GB, and GBC games.

512mb taking 5 min, not in every country...
Perhaps not, but those would be the largest N64 titles like Conker or Resident Evil 2 (not that it would be likely to recieve Conker). Most other games would be well below that size. Hell, Super Mario 64 is only 8mb

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Edit: I was being dumb, the largest N64 games were 64mb which is the equivalent of about 512 megabits (which I obviously was confusing with megabytes). So, the largest game sizes before touching Gamecube games would be 64mb for the N64 and 256mb for the DS.

LovePlus+, Ni No Kuni, and a few other Japanese titles were 512MB on the NDS

But I thought coldboot hax meant game-over Nintendo...
No it meant game over switch rev1. And if a mod chip comes one day than I think it also means game over fw 5.0...

For now we can wait on 4.1 for the hackers or update and to 5.0 on rev1 and ether the mod chip comes around or in 5years or more a software based hack will show up

Except people on 4.1.0 can still play the physical copy of Kirby. Didn't need to update to 5.0.0 to play that game.
Yeah, the problem is that these people will not be able to enjoy future updates such as the imminent one on March 28, which will add the new allies Marx, Gooey, and character set “Rick & Kine & Coo”, although I imagine there will be people who don't mind this.

i don't think it will be game over since every firmware is hacked except the lasted one so the only thing hackers have yet to hack on the switch is 5.0.0.

I would love to have Rick, Kine & Coo as playable friends as well, but I'll take having the game playable on 4.1.0 in its original form over not being able to play it at all without updating. I count myself lucky that I was still able to get this game digitally and unlocked on FW 4.1.0 and can now wait there for CFW. (I've been going pretty much all digital on the Switch so far and hope to continue doing so if CFW/spoofing becomes a reality soon-ishly, at least hopefully before Smash comes out.)
