Yes, do that

Yes. As for the sd card came with the console, check the lock slider if it has one make sure it's unlocked otherwise you can't access it.

Yes. I did check the lock button. It's not showing up. I'll use the new card.

I'm going to give it a go. I'm not experienced with this. I'll post if I get stuck somewhere, lol.

[edit]
Looks like the console updates were a success. Thanks a bunch! Some Wii titles aren't loading, but that would appear to be compatibility issues with USB Loader GX.

I'm still unable to get gamecube games to work from USB. I have to tinker around a bit more it seems.

My wii is on 3.0, but I need to update it to 4.3 before installing homebrew, but my Wii won't find my wi-fi. How can I update the console? I tried filling in the router manually, but it didn't work.

Dolphin gamecube saves are a different format than Nintendont gamecube saves. You need to convert whatever save files you want to use with Nintendont into Nintendont's RAW format, and then put them into the Nintendont saves directory. The naming convention for Nintendont saves is the 4-character alphanumeric game code (first four for the game at https://www.gametdb.com/, i.e. SSB Melee is GALE.raw). Nintendont saves are located at device:\saves, usually USB.

Ok so if I'm understanding correctly, I just need 1 empty GameCube memory card? And it has all of my saves? Or I need one for each individual game I have?

Ok I've think I got it figured out now. So what I did was

In dolphin on PC
1. Clicked on "Tools"
2. Select "Memcard Manager"
3. Didn't have a blank .raw memory card so I downloaded one, selected it
4. Clicked "Import"
5. Selected all of my saves under "C:Users/username/OneDrive/Documents/Dolphin Emulator/GC/USA/Card A" which puts all of my .gci game saves into this one .raw file of a memory card that's the size of 32mb (which was the memcard I downloaded)
6. Then once all of the .gci saves were put into the 32 memcard, I left dolphin
7. I put that same memcard into my SD card in "SD:saves", there should be a saves folder in the root of the SD card
8. Finally renamed the memcard .raw file into " ninmem.raw"

Take out on SD card and put into my Wii and on USBloader GX
1. In USBloader GX, I clicked settings
2. Loader settings
3. Scrolled all the way down to "Memory Card Emulation" flicked it to "ON (Multi) "
4. Then went to all my GameCube games settings
5. Game Load
6. Scrolled down to "Memory Card Emulation" and flicked it "ON (Multi)"
7. Finally turned on game, e.g. Luigi's Mansion, saw my save

If there's anything wrong I did, pls do correct me and hopefully this helps out with anybody in the future. I very appreciate your help <3

I'm sure there are a million reasons why this is a stupid question, which is why I'm asking here rather than making it into its own thread, but is there any way to... I don't know, use one Wii backup loader as a front end for another?

I'm asking because USB Loader GX has always been my preference in terms of UI & UX, but there are multiple games that no matter what I do with the settings it has problems with them like the controllers not working in the game or freezing on a black screen when exiting. The games in question work in WiiFlow Lite and CFG Loader, but I'm not a fan of their UI or UX.

What would really be an intriguing idea is, since there seems to be some variability to how games work in each loader, is if there could be a front end that worked for all the loaders, so that games working in one but having issues with another wouldn't require exiting and switching to a different loader with a totally different UI.

Normally, controller issues, or black screens, or the errors the you mentioned above, are related to the cIOs that you have installed.

Are you sure you are using the correct / most up to date ones?

Yes, they're all completely up to date and correctly installed, and the issues are specifically exclusive to USB Loader GX. Yes, I've tried resetting all the settings and tried changing all the settings (except which IOS it loads the games using), the issues persist.

It's possible that GX is picking the wrong cIOS for the games with its Auto IOS, since there was a game where I had that trouble with it in the past where manually setting a different IOS fixed it, but then I'm not sure why the other loaders which have also implemented Auto IOS features would "choose" differently from how GX does.

There was also an issue with some games working on the first launch and then on subsequent launches or launching after having played a different game in the same session it would throw up an error instead. Again, not a problem I've had with WiiFlow Lite -- everything I've tested in WFL has worked flawlessly for me.

I should also note this is on the vWii and I've seen other people talk about GX giving them issues with vWii. All loaders are their most current versions, and this issue happens with both the mainstream GX and the latest one that fixes a bug with Priiloader on vWii.

EDIT: Okay, I did what I should have tried immediately, which is changing the IOS slot from Auto IOS to a different slot, and for at least one of the games consistently not working correctly in USB Loader GX that fixed it. So the issue with those other games is most likely also an issue of USB Loader GX "choosing" the wrong IOS, but I'll test them as well just to be certain. Or you could also consider this to be my own issue since changing the IOS manually really should've been the first thing that occurred to me.

EDIT: Well, you can ignore my previous edit, changing which IOS it was set to use fixed it only once. Each subsequent attempt to load the game in USB Loader GX has had the same result: the game doesn't respond to the controls, and attempting to return to the Wii Menu or reset the game with the home menu results in it freezing. Attempting to turn the power off does the same, requiring that I force a shutdown.

So I'm back to "USB Loader GX is just more finicky and less reliable than other loaders" instead of blaming it on Auto IOS. It's not a bad install of USB Loader GX either, because I reinstalled it. It's a loader problem -- even if it's a combination of factors where the loader isn't solely to blame, the loader is the only factor that actually determines the failure, since other loaders work as expected.

Anyway that's not the topic of this thread and I'm not here to troubleshoot USB Loader GX either, what I'm coming back around to is my other idea: why can't we have a front end for Wii loaders separate from the actual loader? WiiFlow Lite works great, I just don't like anything about the UI, with or without a theme for it. CFG Loader works great too but again I really want a UI more akin to USB Loader GX, you know?

I guess these are all open source, if I wanted to learn how to do it I could take the time myself to make a fork of WFL with a totally different UI, but that's not the same thing as a front end compatible with all loaders. I'm also aware many people use WFL as a front end for all kinds of emulators and other homebrew but I've got no interest in using the Wii or vWii as emulator stations when there are much better emulators on PC.

Use modmii for a complete solution, or for just a letterbomb replacement use [link]
the issue with modmii is that at the moment the archive.org is down meaning i can't get the files, but thanks for sending a replacement i'll certainly try that

Hello.
My kids receive hacked WII console with one usb flash, 32GB size, with games on it.
They want more games and forced me to find out how to make new usb flash or HDD with games on it.
With some experience in PS2 game modding (installing games on HDD and network) , I searched the net for guidance how to make new usb flash with games.
Following tutorial and using WII Backup manager , I formatted my usb flash to wfbs system and for a try transfered one game.
As seen on YT and some guides I expect success but unfortunately it was failure:
When I put USB flash in a USB 0 port of wii and run CFG USB loader, I receive following message:
Partition: auto not found
Select a different partition or format a WBFS partition.
When I choose to format I was given only one partition with size of 2048 (MB I suppose ? ) and some options.

So I got suck here and no progress. :(

My question and requirement for help is
1. HOW to make bootable usb flash or hard drive (HDD) so it could be read from existing installed software ? I searched a lot of pages where it is described how to make usb flash with games, but NONE of them have the righht asnwer or solution :(
2. Can I (based on given info of wii system) make upgrade of CFG USB loader and also make a installation of USB loader GX ?
3. What is your suggestion (as a experienced wii user(s) ) to install on this wii from loaders for games ?

Additional info of wii system is attached to this message, but I have to say that CFG USB loader verios is V70 r15 (Auto).

I hope this message will have reaction and somebody will help me.

You can resoftmod your wii as if it were a virgin using modmii

Alternatively u can drag and drop your syscheck.csv onto modmii.exe and it will tell you what to do in order to just update your softmods that are out of date. Info on running syscheck can be found here https://gbatemp.net/threads/posting-a-system-check.300279/

If u go down the syscheck updater route, afterwards run modmii's usb loader setup wizard. Fat32 is recommended over wbfs unless u experience compatibility issues with your particular usb when formatted as fat32

Modmii.github.io

Edit: your cios 250 and 251 aren't optimal based on your pics, unable to determine more without a syscheck. But 248 and 249 look good (250 is a duplicate of 249,it should instead be using base 57)
