Also, how exactly do I configure my system to autoboot into EmuNAND?
I think it's theoretically possible but not normally done. That was a guess on my part because your only USB/only SD symptom sounded like neek minus DI behavior.

As to the how: Priiloader can autoboot homebrew - I use it to autoboot Wiiflow.

It might be as simple as pointing priiloader at nswitch. But that's not something I've tried and not recommended.
On the real NAND, when I open the Homebrew Channel, it will only show the apps from my SD card, and none from the SSD. The only way I can get the SSD apps to show up is by ejecting the SD card.
I think Homebrew Channel only displaying apps from either SD or USB is normal behavior. I think there's a setting that lets you switch between the two (e.g. https://gbatemp.net/threads/load-apps-from-usb.354261/ ), but I don't know if there's a setting that displays both in one aggregated list. What's probably happening is HBC is automatically toggling that setting for you when it doesn't detect an SD card - to display USB:\apps instead.

HBC is pretty barebones. Most people use a loader as their... loader. For example in my setup I have most games on my USB, most apps on my SD, and I have Wiiflow configured to display all installed wads in one menu, despite some of them being installed (only) to the emunand.
The issue in my original post, about the console freezing any time it has to restart while in the EmuNAND - such as exiting YAWMM or the Homebrew Channel, still applies.
Neek is not a fully functional vm for Wii. Homebrew is also frequently if not universally not designed to be run inside neek. Basically, you should be using YAWMM on realnand. Loaders like Wiiflow can install wads to an emunand (while you are booted into realnand).

I've modded several Wiis, and on most I've only booted into the neek emunand system menu once to get the lengthier first boot out of the way and double check display settings and wiimote sync. Everything else is handled from Wiiflow, which is configured such that when an emunand-installed game is run, to boot into emunand, run that title, and then exit emunand whenever the user attempts to close that title, returning to the Priiloader autoboot of Wiiflow.

Bootmii should not permit installing a nand backup from a different wii, not unless it was cloned/converted for your wii first using punetwiin (or modmii)
It asked me to Konami first, which I did because I did this same thing as a child with my wii (dont ask why) and it worked before so I assumed it would be fine

Dear all, I am having some issue playing backup games through the ULGX (newest build). The symptom is that I get 002 error about 5min after running the game. This is so wierd as most people would usually have the 002 when they load the game. But I can load the game fine, but it eventual crashes about 5min afterwards.
I followed the hacks.wii tutorial and loaded my games from the SD card. Here is a syscheck of my wii:

For mkwii at least, i believe that you may need to patch your iso with a wiimmfi mod

I have an SD Card where on a separate Wii, the games on the SD Card work, but they don't work when I put the same SD Card on a different Wii. I know, it's because the software hasn't been installed on this particular WIi, but considering that both are modded, is there software that will allow the games to work on the system where I haven't installed on it?

You talking about Wii or GC games? Or even retro emulators?
If it's Wii games, and you're running an old version of USBLoaderGX on the other Wii (where they don't work), updating usbloadergx should fix it.
Anyway, post a syscheck here to see if your softmods are up to date.

USB LOADER GX seems happy to load off of an 8GB fat32-formatted USB drive, but I want to upgrade to something bigger.
I have two USB HDDs, both the sort where the drive inside is interchangeable SATA.

Neither one seems to work with USB LOADER GX, in the same ways:
  • If I have the option enabled to read from the USB drive at launch, ULGX doesn't even show its loading screen - it just boots me back to the System Menu after a few moments of darkness. The same thing also happens if NO usb drive is connected, regardless of the read-at-launch option.
  • If that same option is disabled, I can get all the way to the ULGX Hard Drive settings screen, where trying to mount the drive puts me in a weird limbo state where I can still move the wiimote cursor, but trying to interact with any of the buttons or menus onscreen does nothing but cause that particular menu to no longer be interactable. This cannot be backed out of without holding down the power button.
I have tried a decent set of different formatting setups, all on MBR with FAT32 partitions:
  • Multiple separate 32GB Fat32 partitions with my backups distributed amongst them.
  • A single 1TB to just-under-2TB (depending on the drive) Fat32 partition with everything on it.
  • Same as above, but with the Partition "ID" / type manually changed from 0x0B to 0x0C (Fat32 LBA) as per some weird youtube video. (I was desperate!)
I've also tried fiddling with the port setting in ULGX, enabling Multiple Partitions in ULGX, etc etc. Nothing makes any difference.

I think it's of note that when mounted on windows, both of these USB HDD devices are described internally as being "USB SCSI" (by different manufacturers though - one is an on-brand seagate drive) - perhaps this particular form of USB storage simply isn't supported at all by ULGX?

I used ModMii to install USB Loader GX just last month, so I'm pretty confident it should be the newest version, and it seems the cIOS slots are set up.

You have to know that the Wii can only take one usb hdd at a time, unless you use a powered usb hub to connect two or more (i think it's possible).
So, if the hdd enclosure is powered with its own power supply, the usb cable should be hooked to port 0 on the Wii (lower port when in horizontal position). If it's not powered, if the hdd demands to have additional power (the one standard usb connection won't do) you could use a y-cable with the main data usb going to port 0 and the additional power going to port 1 (important to not switch them).
You could be lucky if the hdd doesn't demand much power by just plugging it to port 0 and it'd work with no issues.
  • Multiple separate 32GB Fat32 partitions with my backups distributed amongst them.
  • A single 1TB to just-under-2TB (depending on the drive) Fat32 partition with everything on it.
Only use 1 mbr partition, formatted as fat32 if you plan to play GC games (as Nintendont doesn't accept NTFS).

Oh, and make you're using the latest version of usbloadergx. Also in drive path settings, make sure it's set to port 0.

To clarify I'm only using one at a time, I've just tried both of them because the first didn't work!

I'll try the y-cable suggestion, I think it could be a good lead. Thank you very much for responding!

i was about to write a comment reporting back that it didn’t work and providing more details on my install, but IT WORKED!! I was mistakenly trying to connect the extra power cable to an external usb power supply at first.

I think if you set the date on your wii to before the wii shop got shutdown then you can still access it.

I bought a modded Wii, the home menu looks exactly like on the original. So I'm not sure if a "homebrew" is installed yet. I saw a tutorial on youtube, that said that you install the games via an usb-stick. So do I have to leave the usb-stick connected to the console if I'm gonna play my games? I don't seem to have a SD-card in the front, how big was the Wii's internal memory?
