Will the Wii boot without a drive attached?

So if these steps are taken, is it able to go to the system menu just as normal? Sorry, I can't try myself, since "my" Wii is property of my brother and he asked me, not to disassemble it. ;)

Why do you want to do that?

Yes it will boot to the system menu with no drive attached.

If you do not have a drive plugged in, all Official Channels and etc. will stop abruptly and display: There is a problem with the disk. Please eject and refer to the User Manual.

So I at least have to attach the drive's main board... OK.
