Nope, you can use any SD card formatted to FAT32 with the 3DS. The system takes longer to boot with 128 GB, and minor issues appear with 256+GB (such as MenuHax not working), but other than that, it's fine from what I could read.

Thanks! So difficult to find accurate info on the web. I have a9lh and Luma and haven't noticed any boot-time difference from 64GB cards. I guess the difference might be fairly tiny, so that it could take a little longer, but it's still insignificant. Not noticed anyway. What I did find, though, was that connecting to the theme store won't work unless clusters are set to size 32. Just leaving that there for anyone who might come across that particular issue.

I'm not being rude, I am 100% serious. If you lack knowledge of computers on that fundamental a level, you should not be trying to hack a 3DS. Also, if you read the whole original post, he plans on using the card with his normal 3DS, not a Sky3DS (which is impossible anyway, because Sky3DS uses a microSD card, not a standard one) He plans to use a Sky3DS to emulate a copy of FreakyForms for use with FreakyHax.
Oh, I did not understand he tried to use the SD card for Freakyforms... Well, he is on 11.0, so the worst thing he can do is corrupting his save files. OP will probably learn the basics the hard way :P

That's weird... Normally, a 64k cluster is recommended on 16+GB cards for optimal performance... What was the cluster for your SD card before it was formatted?

I originally formatted to 64 cluster size, but I could not connect to the theme store and had an error saying the sd card could not be accessed. Themes I had set up in shuffle before I upgraded the card (to 128GB from 64GB) worked fine, Eshop was fine and all games played fine, but I had to reformat to cluster 32 in order to connect to the theme shop. Not too much of an issue, but I wanted to be able to change the themes if I wanted and that meant connecting to the theme shop.
