Speaking of the whole guide idea, anyone up for the challenge of building a cross region savegame compatibility thread, the type where users report which games they've tried and that work?

People, stop confusing the OP. At least read the first post completely if you are gonna answer.

You have FW9.5?
Get a Sky3DS. Gateway doesn't work on 9.5 and if we track its marvelous update record, it will take them probably 2 more years to get it to work there.
You cannot downgrade from that firmware.
You lose a lot of interesting functionality by using Sky3DS instead of Gateway (emunand, CIAs, etc.) but there is no way around for you.
The last updates from Gateway support Emunand 9.5 (under a system with FW9.2 or lower), that is not meant for you.

Online gameplay?
Yes you can, but you will probably be banned, unless you use a private header.
The problem is that current tools only allow for you to extract a private header from a retail card you own in systems with FW9.2 or lower.
In the future everything can change, who knows, but what I told you stands for today.
