Once an SD Card is formatted, the emuNAND is gone forever correct? And is it possible to have the emuNAND backup'd anywhere to restore?

The guide always tells you to make copies and backups. If you formatted the SD card, assume the data is gone.

It depends on the definition of "format" and "SD card", emunand is outside the standard FAT partition and a traditional create-filesystem formatter won't touch it, a repartitioning (like SDFormatter with "format size adjustment" )will, but the still readable data may confuse tools

I think the Windows formatter won't wipe the emuNAND partition, so if you used that you may be in luck.

Back then, I made NAND backups but I never followed a guide from the 3ds.guide page. I just followed instructions and steps, members in the hacking community made up.

You should update to boot9strap by following 3ds.guide
