This is more for my American friends, what is it with Zombies and the south?
I ask this because somehow a lot of movies and TV shows are either set in the south, have a southern character, have a southern intro/outro song, etc. To give you a clear example of what I meanlook al L4D 2, it is set in New Orleans.

Because you want at least one redneck in your party if you ever have to face the shambling horde.
Few other places will allow one to build skill in shooting, stealth, farming, machining, explosives, and general ingenuity like the southern USA.

    *lil bit of pride*

    Can't always do that.
I eradicated all traces of my southern accent when I realized that the world thought of it as being unintelligent.
I've taken steps to fight racism and bigotry in all forms. Can't embrace those stereotypes.
The only parts I can embrace were listed above.

    Your uber smart anyway :)
Don't vampires live in the south or is that just in true blood?
Anyway, Americans tend to be very stereotypical towards Australian's in Tv shows and movies.

Yeah, I always liked Vulpes, I still remember when he was just starting here... Ah, good times.
But I understand what you mean, I am Latino, I look Latino and I sound Latino. I was fighting that for a while but now I feel very proud of what I am, even if sometimes I get treated differently sometimes.

    Edit: typos

I think it is also because the way that people see the landscape of the south in their head as big open spaces and wooded areas etc like most of the areas in the walking dead.

But wouldn't it be more fun in big cities like NY or Boston?
Basically if Zombies ever appear, move to Seattle and you'll be safe.

I'll have you know that Crocodile Dundee is an accurate and completely authentic portrayal of the average Australian citizen.

    Warning: Spoilers inside!

As for your question, Vulpes pretty much nailed it; it's easy to explain away everyone's access to and proficiency with firearms by just saying, "It's the South."

@[member='purplesludge'] That's not entirely inaccurate. I live in a place quite similar. When it gets dark here it gets fuckin' dark

@[member='VVoltz'] I always loved your accent. It makes me smile. ^_^

Gahars, I bought a Kangaroo, I ride it around in the outback while being chased by the primeinister (a woman).

If there ever were a zombie outbreak in real life, I would definitely want you as my ally :D

And is it weird that I don't have an emergency plan for if I'm ever caught in an earthquake/tsunami/avalanche, but I've thought up a comprehensive emergency plan in the event of a zombie apocalypse?
