This owuld probably be pretty tough to do. Aren't wads encrypted?
alpha0000's
wwpacker allows WADs to be unpacked quite easily. Once unpacked, just use HowardC's
u8tool to extract the data file, usually the 00000002.app file. This file contains the game data, sometimes includes a config file that can be edited. Sometimes the data file is 00000005.app, just look at the filesize.. typically it's the largest file.
Most of the other .app files are useless (for this discussion) and contain the HomeButton files, fonts, title/banner, etc.
The exception being 00000001.app. 00000001.app is the game executable, for extreme hacking it can be loaded into IDA Pro 5.2 (using the
DOL and GekkoPS plugins) and disassembled. This is a very tedious and long process, but for those with disassembly and reverse-engineering experience, it will yield the best results for game modifications.
Some WiiWare games are easily editable via a config file and even have debug menu's, a good example is any WiiWare game made by High Voltage Systems.
High Voltage Hot Rod Show,
Evasive Space,
VIP BlackJack Casino, and
GyroStarr all have CDGame.txt files (similar to The Conduit) that can be edited using the tools described above, to enable debug menu's to change all kinds of game features, enable cheats, etc.
On the other hand, most WiiWare games are not as friendly to edit and would require a lot of hacking to change things such as controller support. That's not to say it can't be done, just that it's more difficult than games that have an editable config file.
