Hacking question about wii's memory

When you try to install wads and your wii is out of space, what happens? For me, the wad seemed to install fine, but when going to the system menu, there was a message saying the memory was full and to use the data manager to get more space. If the memory was full, how could the installation have finished?

its just a warning, the wad wouldnt install if it was maxed
