so i understand that acekard may never be able to beat the new 3ds firmware

can they put the ds software on the dsi also resulting in a block of them working on the dsi also

of is the nature of software block only available for the 3DS

the dsi can be updated to block flash kits, but there would be little reason to do so. the 3ds is what nintendo is pushing now.

The DSi was getting updated to block flash carts since before the 3DS even came out.

yes im aware of that but the updates were always beat

what im saying is now that nintendo found out how to blokc them possibly permanently

can they put out that same update for the dsi

or is the update only possibly with 3ds hardware

There's no proof that carts are blocked permanently, in fact some carts updated within days.

"But the Acekard didn't update yet" - That's because it's Acekard. It's been at least a month slow for the past couple of updates already.

I think I understand what you are trying to ask here. First things first. While there will be minor differences in the software update (or at least I assume since I do not work for Ninty and cannot 100% attest to my statement), the core functions are more or less the same. One of which is to block flashcarts as seen in recent updates for both consoles. If/When Ninty decides to release another update for the DSi, you can be sure that it will block your Acekard. I wouldn't say that the block is exclusive to the 3DS. In fact, possibly the only reason the latest firmware still blocks it is because Acekard didn't do squat about it as Rydian pointed out.

So basically if Ninty had decided to release an update for the DSi when the 3DS one came out, your DSi would have ended up like the 3DS.

yeah pretty much what i ment

im saying does the 3DS have different hardware that will allow them to put out a software update that blocks the card

or is it just software update meaning the software can easily be put on any ds (DSi) or in order to the software to work it need specific hardware that the DSi may not have

Nah I honestly believe that it is just software related in that sense. :)

I already answered you. The DSi has been getting the same type of updates as the 3DS, since well before the 3DS came out.

"That update that blocked all the carts" did not happen, as evident from multiple carts having updated to bypass it within days.
