Why do you need to run homebrew on the device? Is it possible at all to just write an app that runs ps1 games?

Edit: Sorry new here. looking through other posts, IT doesnt look like you can run much unsigned code, and if you do you dont have access to everything in the vita. I was thinking more along the lines of If I bought the developer kit, would i be able to make a ps1 emulator there?

There's already a ps1 emulator on the vita. You just hack the Psp mode and use it.

At the moment the only publicly known method to run unsigned code on a PS Vita is within the PSP sandbox.

PS1 emulation was without audio for a very longtime until a buggy sound plugin was released. Now an exploit has been found in a few PS1 Classics games that enable the PS Vita to play these games in the same manner as if you bought them from the PSN Store.

You can run ps1 games with perfect audio with the ps1 loader (pre TN-X) via an exploit triggered with tekken2 or XSMOTO.
