Hacking Question about my modchip and the current softmod

Hello all,

I have this Chinese d2cpro modchip and on firmware 3.2U. Will updating to 4.2U disable the chip? And which would be better for me, to use the softmod or keep using the modchip?

Also, does the softmod allow GC backups? What are the downfalls to this softmod, like incompatibility with some games or lag or what?

definitely no problem on that tut. if conflicts on your modchip worries you; i may say there are no problems at all if you follow that guide. my wii is hardmodded too and so far no issues...wi games or gc games.
