Homebrew Q: What version of Smash do I get if I buy it today on eshop? (USA)

If SmashHax doesn't work out, you could always pick up the Nintendo Selects version of Ocarina of Time and use OoTHax on it. You'll just need a save adapter or an already hacked 3ds.

Or find a 1.0.0 copy of SmashBros. even if this will be difficult

I'm confused, SmashHax works with 1.1.0 according to github so what's the problem?

• v1.0.0. USA: supported+tested. "gameother": supported+tested.
• v1.0.1. USA: supported+tested.
• v1.0.2. USA: supported, not tested.
• v1.0.4. USA: supported+tested. "gameother": supported, not tested.
• v1.0.5. USA: "supported". The target heap address for overwriting the target object varies, hence this hax doesn't actually work right with this version. This version is not fully supported due to this.
• v1.1.0. USA: supported+tested. "gameother": supported+tested.
• v1.1.1. USA: supported+tested. "gameother": supported+tested.
• v1.1.2. USA: supported+tested. "gameother": supported+tested.

Ah, makes sense. Then yeah it seems your only option is to get another Smash Bros cartridge or borrow one from a friend.

I don't think the eShop merges the update with the game when it downloads it. I redownloaded Smash because I was on 1.1.3 and trying to to smashbroshax, and it redownloaded the normal 1.0.1 eShop version. Carts will have the game merged with the update, but shop shouldn't.

Yes. I can try again right now to confirm policy hasn't changed, as that was at least 2 weeks ago, but that's what I know currently.

If you'd like to do that I'd appreciate it a great deal, I'm pretty scared of buying the wrong version of the game a second time. Though if it worked 2 weeks ago I think that it should still work. Do you happen to have a copy of the pcap you used?

I just bought the game on the eShop and received the USA 1.0.1 version. Successfully used SmashHax to gain access to the homebrew launcher.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean, I have the cartridge version. Am I missing something here? Also, what is your firmware version? N3ds or O3ds?

Your cartridge came with 1.1.0 by default?

My firmware is 10.7.0-32U.
