Hacking Q: how do i know what mod my wii has???

I recently purchased a modded wii,
it works fine and such playing back-ups

However, i am curious as to what mod was used.
So i can update it...

I am pretty sure it was not soft-modded.



Hope someone can help me.

Do you just play copies through the usual disc channel or a backup loader channel? do you have the homebrew channel? you may have cioscorp installed without homebrew channel though but these questions will help..

i dont think there is any homebrew installed.

I boot them off just like any other regular disc.

So the original Wii/Gamecube channel is used to boot all my games

Chances are you are using a drive chip but without opening the Wii and comparing it to example pictures you will not know. You shouldn't need to flash it if it is working ok. Some makes are updatable with a programmer, some with a dvd and some can't be updated.

If you want to get into the homebrew and USB loader side of things read the stickies and a new guide thoroughly, and read it again and again otherwise, if you fire ahead without understanding the dangers you can permanently damage the Wii. This is proper Wii hacking not just a drive hack.
