Question in the title.
Or would I need to have an alternative entrypoint to HBL aswell?
You'll need an alternative entry
Short answer is yes.
Is that not the point in a downgrade? You can get to a point where the entry point you want to use is viable.
Now I'm confused.
Will it work or not?
It's a Jap N3DS, so it would be hard to find an entrypoint for it.
Not if he downgrades.
You can use a hardmod to downgrade. Once downgraded, the entrypoints for the firmware you downgraded to will work again.
Are you absolutely sure? Because I think it's just a FIRM downgrade, not a complete one...
I'm not sure that includes the browser.
Hardmod only downgrades NATIVE_FIRM, not the rest of the system titles
Browser won't work as entrypoint.
Interesting to know, thanks.
I think I misinterpreted. You are correct, downgrading the native firm alone will not give him access to browserhax. He can then use Oot/CN/FF to do a full downgrade. At this point he can use browserhax. I forgot about the extra steps needed to downgrade to a usable firmware (9.2.0-20).
How good is your soldering? Might be cheaper to buy, another local console on firmwares 10.5 and below then to pay for someone to hardmod and import an entry point!
