There's a taste of completely free hacks, and suddenly any form of payment for one is out of the question. I can understand the OP doesn't want to spend the cash on a card that may become irrelevant in a few days/weeks/months, but in any case the GW card would still be an extra slot for a shed load of roms.

I remember people sticking credit cards in the slot on their PS2 to force the drawer out because they were too cheap to fit a mod chip, and the same for almost all consoles

There probably will be a totally free hack pretty soon, maybe that's a GW 'soon' but it'll probably happen but requesting it wont make it happen quicker.

If you want to do something now, and its possible now only via buying a card, then stump up the cash, or sit and wait for someone to do the hard work for you.

I'd rather hackers used the current resources to move forward, not just save cheapsters a few $$

Go wash a few cars or sell some cookies

Every system I had either had a backup system, or a modchip. Sorry if members don't understand the risk than they shouldn't be in this kind of scene.

The only solution currently available to you is to buy a Gateway 3DS, but that will require you to stop being a cheap brat. As Xzi stated, you can afford the console, but not the flashcart that is the price of 2 games?

I f***ing wonder why... Actually, it is not Gateway that is inconveniencing you, but Nintendo, as they make you buy their console to play any of the games sold for it. Why can't they distribute the games for free directly on nintendo.com and release an emulator for PC/Mac/Linux???

Ok, you're just rude - you know that? I.CANT.AFFORD.IT. I already stated that my console was a gift - I.DID.NOT.PAY.FOR.IT. Don't call be a cheap brat just because I have money issues - if I'm a "cheap brat", then I suppose you're a spoilt one. Why should I pay such a price for a piece of PCB and plastic, when all I want is a simple emuNAND solution? I like to keep my console and it's software as ORIGINAL as possible, without modding my save data and such - literally the only thing I want is emuNAND, why would I want to pay money that I don't even have when all I want is that 1 thing? Ninjhax + emuNAND + Pokemon is all I want.

Well then if it's so easy develop it yourself. All the information on the exploits used is publicly available.

No offence but, people buy a Gateway typically to pirate so they save money. So I'm not so different from Gateway users, except that I don't do piration. Gateway is all about the profit and for the consumer it's about saving it. Heck, some hackers may actually be in the same position as me so they *might* actually develop such a homebrew. I don't think homebrew is developed for the sake of saving people money, even of it was just an emuNAND homebrew. They make it to benefit people, not necessarily to save money anyway.

quite a few devs have their own private free emunand/rom setups, but quite simply they are for their own personal use, if you want something buy it or make it, don't cry that you want it for free, yeah you may have nobler intentions than some, but i don't think the people who make these tools care, yes they want money for their work, same as pretty much everyone in this world.......basically do you want it enough to pay? or do you want it enough to learn how to do it yourself?....if neither of those options appeal to you then wait patiently, maybe eventually a solution that suits your needs will come along

Might not be as simple as you think. Pretty sure most people would want a free "simple" solution, but it doesn't work that way.

Why not just stop being a cheap ass and buy a Gateway? Ya know, support the only ones that are actually doing anything.

I'm not cheap - I'm poor, so don't be such a dufus. Before you say "Why did you buy a 3DS" - I've already said counless times - It was a gift.

You know what? You're right! I should create my own solution! I heared that someone developed a way to get arm9 homebrew working on 9.x, so I guess I should start learning how to develop my own. Have no knowledge in C or Assembly, so I guess I should look into that first.

Then you either:
A) Stick with what you have and play Pokemon but nothing else.
B) Downgrade and be able to play .cia files and homebrew in Emunand but no Pokemon.
C) Save up and buy a Gateway and have all 3.

In life you're going to have to make a lot of hard decisions, this isn't one of them but it's a start. What's a Gateway even cost nowadays? About the equivalent of 2 retail games, right?

The "CFW" everyone's been running (the one made by yellows8/derrek and palantine cfw are the same besides some boot stuff) is completely unobfuscated and ready to be reverse-engineered without much resistance. If you want to make your own emunand homebrew, start with that for a general idea of how you can make your own 4.5-based loader/whatever.
It's what I'm working on, but I honestly don't intend on releasing what I end up making beyond documentation.

But I want EVERYTHING everyone else has (and more) and I don't want to pay for it!

I was hoping to take advantage of the web exploit, but that's my choice. I'd really like to RE the CFW, but I have no idea on how to do so as I have no knowledge of Assembly or Reverse Engineering. But I guess I'd have to do something about it. Would be a lot less hassle if someone had already RE'd it and just uploaded the code somewhere so other people can play around with it - I know that's not gonna happen though.

Well you could do this, install cfw, install savedatafiler, backup the pokemon save, sell the pokemon game and get 30 dollars, get a little work done by doing some lawns or payed work like helping someone doing anything and get the rest, dude right now there is no easy way for this, not a free one because gateway does really a lot right now, you only need that, even retails are not needed anymore, even though I still buy some games, but come on, if you want something you have to invest a little to it, pokemon is not going to be forever on you

give the game to someone who has a powersaves device, they can rip your save (right?) - hmm no, i think only the jp cybergadget device can do it how we need it.
then, you can restore your save to your cart using the broken encryption :)
maybe someone who has a cybergadget device will do that for you

You either need to be intubated to bypass obstruction or create a stoma inferior to the the area of obstruction to survive
