Sony...... just quit at the handheld industry... youre just trying to port your present games in a present handheld
You're seriously checking ebay to see how companies price their systems?EJames2100 said:No they haven't.
The PSP prices are almost identical to their Nintendo Counterpart's.

Yep, near identical, perhaps at most a £20 difference which doesn't even get into the much higher than Nintendo bracket.

Uh. You know the DS is even easier to pirate on than the PSP, and it's use for piracy is way more widespread, as there's not a single system that can't be pirated on.RE4zombie said:The original PSP failed due to piracy, and if somebody figures out how to crack this system, Sony handhelds are dead for sure. Nintendo has always destroyed its competitors in the handheld market, who have always had superior tech.

Because Nintendo isn't try to do that at all. It's not like they're throwing their old N64 games on their upcoming console just for a quick buck.
Oh wait...
As for price, it would not surprise me if they undercut 3DS pricing. Sony has a rare opportunity to be the cheaper console this generation. Last gen they believed that carrying the Playstation name would sell it but it got pretty hard beat by the DS. Seeing as the DS was cheaper from the get-go helped. Even if Sony sells this for $200 (with the 3DS launching at around $250-$300), they may be able to get a decent foothold. Price cuts have worked for Sony in the past, the Slim did help significantly increase their PS3 sales.

I don't think we will see the PSP2 for a while because Sony said they want the original PSP to have a 10-year lifecycle. Sony is going to need a lot of luck to beat the 3DS.

DSGamer64 said:Sony can't afford to undercut Nintendo in hopes of selling their next device, the PS3 hasn't even been profitable for the last few years, what makes you think Sony will be able to make their next PSP affordable if it's as powerful as they claim? No technology has been developed to do what the 360 can in such a small form factor yet and even if it was remotely possible to do so, it would be expensive as hell to do it with production costs breaking the thousand dollar mark.
And bringing back land mark games that had an impact on the industry isn't a bad thing, especially when they are being upgraded and enhanced for a new look and feel. Some of those old games are still fun to play as well, so I don't see what the big deal is. I highly doubt the PSP2 has 360 level power, that's pretty much impossible seeing as how even the most top end laptop computers with performance similar to the 360 are monsters in size, there is no way to shrink it down to something that might fit in your pocket.
