Thanks!

It shocked me for a while. I tried using the PSP via USB in between upgrade/downgrade, when the hack had done it's work (the PSP said v1.00), and Windows wouldn't recognise the PSP. Thought it had snuffed it for a moment. But went to game menu, chose 1.52 update and it worked a charm!

Thank you MPH!

Is it still possible to brick your PSP if you are careless when installing the downgrader? I feel like installing this on my cousin's PSP but want to know as I never used v2.00 firmwire before.

Yeah you can still brick your PSP, this is firmware flashing after all, and about 4 people so far have fucked this up.

Follow the instructions to the letter and you'll be fine...

I've heard some ppl say that if u downgrade with this u may not be able to upgrade the firmware again. This is a good program, just a shame running homebrew on a 2.0 psp is just around the corner. A lot of european psp owners are going to be very happy.

The jury's still out on that adgloride, I've seen people speculate that it might not let you update properly, but I've also seen people claim that they have downgraded then upgraded again and it works like a charm...

An aside for you new 1.5 users bursting to fuck around with all the shite you can now do :

While running homebrew/iso/emu's on the PSP do not put it in sleep mode, and do not turn off the system while running the apps either. Always return back to the PSP menu or you run the risk of killing your Memory Stick...

I'm an owner of a 1.5 PSP but goddamn, this is the best news for the scene there's been in a very long time. Just kinda wished they would've waited until a bunch of "2.0 only" games came out. Now they're gonna make a 2.1 with this other hole plugged. Hopefully there will always be someone to catch their mistakes with each new firmware version.

I've only ever heard that you were "unable" to put it in sleep mode, and wondered why I was able to. I turn it off sometimes while running homebrew also. What is it that this does to kill the stick?

Someone help me please, i need my SNES back

Well that was kind of dumb of you to do such a thing.

Just charge the battery. Do what it tells ya to do. Wait a while.

I am just confirming that this downgrade method worked for me 100%.

I have 1x 1.5 Jap Psp and 1x 2.0 Jap Psp so tried this out earlier on my 2.0. I followed all of the instructions extremely carefully, also do not forget to change your Psp wallpaper to the ''frame_buffer.png'' background
(then delete this png from the photo directory leaving only overflow.tif), I have a feeling some may have overlooked this stopping it from working.

Also, I have seen some people express concern when they received an error with the update stopping progress at 99%, this is to be expected as is the error you get when you first click on the photo (overflow.tif) as well as the error you get after restarting your Psp after the failed 99% update.

Dont forget to press your ''O'' button to rebuild the corrupt system data after restarting. If you follow all of the instructions it should work for you just as it did for me 100%. I can also confirm that homebrew is now running fine after the update and system settings now display version 1.5.

It is very interesting to note that the downgrade exploit partially relied upon the new wallpaper feature Sony added to the 2.0 firmware as well as some kind of built in failsafe mechanism that rebuilds erroneus system firmware updates.

Now to get me a large memstickÂ

It's not the size that matters my friend, it's how you use it.
Umm.. yeah, it DOES matter.
I've got a 512MB stick, and I can't fit the GITS:SAC game on it. For... testing purposes, of course... (hey, I've bought all my PSP games...)
Especially if you're doing any Neo Geo CD gaming, those take up a ton of space, 80-200MB PER GAME, possibly more for some others. But it's SOOO worth it, just for that. I love having Metal Slug 1 and 2, and Samurai Showdown 4 playable whenever I want.
