Oop. So much for the PSP Go's premium "aspirational" pricing -- several UK retailers have already discounted Sony's newest handheld to £199 ($319) after launch weekend. That's not a massive drop from the £224 ($358) MSRP, but it's still pretty notable, especially considering the PSP-3000 has an MSRP of £139 ($221). No wonder Sony thinks the Go will drive PSP-3000 purchases -- too bad it couldn't figure out a way to make the Go interesting enough to sell itself.

It's been how many days, 5 now?

The Gamestation my brother works at has yet to sell a single unit.

I don't think I've ever been so excited to see the sales for this thing.

My local Gamestation doesn't even have it on their shelves! You have to ask for it, its like asking for porn...I'd imagine.

Even the Neo Geo Pocket Colour got more space over here in game stores. Saying that if I was a retailer I wouldn't want this in my shop at all seeing it mostly cuts them out.

Sony UK's Claire Blackhouse says that Sony was actually expecting a greater backlash from retailers than it got in regards to the PSP Go, and that many retailers are seeing the new launch as a way to get consumers into stores, at which point they'll realize they're too poor for a PSP Go and might end walking out with a PSP-3000 instead. Sadly, the logic sounds pretty sound

So...produce an over-priced, piracy proof system, use it to encourage sales of the better priced, piracy-capable system, and still sell no games thanks to over-pricing games on the PSN...

Sony you guys are fucking morons. It's like you somehow dislike the idea of a profit.

Oh, so this crap was already released?
I was like that until I saw it in the shops, very little advertising on TV here. I saw a Gran Turismo advert where the player was playing it on a PSP-3000 and then there was like a few seconds of him playing it on Go.

Not the way to sell it really? Shame I was hoping this would be what gamers wanted and actually be good competition for the DSi.

That's Sony's problem. They *think* they can ever make profit, but the only thing they do is create shit, so no cash for the boss.

Lol the Go is the most anti gamer handheld ever made.

Expect more cuts and bargain prices in about a year when they stop manufacturing it because of lack of sales.

Piece of crap!

Or they figured out a way to cut production costs and had the chance to lower prices and jump start the demand for PSP products...but instead decided they could milk the idiots who must have a new system and alienate the general public with the new cheaper made aspirational product.

It's out already? I honestly had not noticed. In a way it's nice of Sony to remind me how much better off I am with my older, cheaper, nicer, better in every way, not Sony just trying to make a quick buck and failing utterly PSP 1000.

Thanks Sony! Now how about you put your crappy little pipe dream away and go do some real work.

I know man, one complaint about the PSP was the way the controls were kinda crapp...the Go is worse from what I read!

Sad really. Kinda feel bad for those who have developers who have suddenly picked up on the PSP thinking the Go would change its fortunes.

Oh well another PSPGo revision should be on its way next year.
